Our dog has swimmers ear. He is a big 90 lb chocolate lab and the vet told my daughter to give him buffered aspirin 2 tablets twice a day. I was looking for bufferin and the store did not have it, so I substituted plain 325 mg aspirin tablets. Is that OK? When I came home he was laying in the yard kind of listless, not really giving a crap, so I wrapped 2 aspirin in a hot dog and he gobbled them up. When I came home 1 hour later, he was all happy and jumping around. I think he must be in pain and the aspirin took it away.

6 month old puppy with one testicle that didn't drop however it appears that it may have dropped back underneath his rectum. He is acting funny and the spot where it was before is gone but a bulge is now under his rectum. Any clue out there?

I've been able to find lots of plastic side release buckles, but I would really prefer metal ones, and am looking for a manufacturer or website where I can get them for a decent price, thanks!

We're both really upset. Our pal had been unwell for a long time but we decided to do what was best for him before he got any worse. It's still very hard, especially for my husband. I just wondered if anybody could send my hubby any words of comfort at this upsetting time so that I can let him see what you all advise/think?

I am adopting a 2 year old Yellow Lab from a pound tomorrow. This dog is the sweetest thing, but I am worried about all the recalls. What is the best dry food I can feed her? I would like to feed her a more high protein diet as well.

We adopted a JRT already 3 yrs. old. They gave us everything for her period and said she just finished her last cycle. When going through her medical records I noticed a procedure done when she was 2. Ovariohysterectomy is what was listed. Any information would help.

I have a six year old male Australian shepherd mix who has been neutered since he was old enough to get snipped [before puberty hit]. My husband's daschund/chihuahua went into heat recently and he ignored her for a week or two, but she's bothered him to the point he's started humping her. He's too big to actually get anything, but it's a bother nonetheless. Is there any reason he would start doing this all of a sudden? She isn't the first intact female he's been around during a heat [last one was a pit bull]. He also hasn't been eating normally recently, even when he's so hungry I can hear his stomach growling, and he refuses everything from dog food to people food. I don't think that has anything to do with the humping and he might just be getting sick, but I'm wondering if they might be related. Any suggestions? Thank you!

i know he would like them and they are freely avalible in pet stores so am thinking as they are being sold for your dog they should be safe! but i worry about him choking on them or the bones splintering and causing him trouble with his digestive system? he is a 2 year old staffordshire bull terrier and needs something to chew on! i have brought him endless amount of toys, which last him less than 5 minuites as they have such powerfull jaws and can chew almost anything!

I've been gradually changing my pom's kibble from Prescription Diet to Wellness b/c it is so much healthier. Lately I've noticed my dog's stools are a bit softer and she has lots of gas. Is this common? Will it subside? I really hate to switch her food again, she is only a pup and has been on a few different kinds of food already :p Thanks!

My mother lives in Dalton Georgia, and she took her dog to the vet this morning. Dalton Animal Hospital. One of the vet techs was cutting the dogs toenails, she cut it in the quick and it started bleeding very badly, and the dog squeeled in pain. When the dog squeeled the woman slapped my mothers dog in the face twice really hard. The dog then had a bowl movement all over the place. My mom spoke to the vet in charge, which was to no avail, he took up for the vet tech. so now my mom is tramatised and so is the dog. My question is can someone please tell me who to contact about the dog being abused at a animal hospital. Please help....

Okay I don't think I am going to do this, and my chi has a appointment for Neuter in June. But I ran into this woman I used to know and she has a AKC female Chi. Well she saw me walking my dog in the grass and she says he has a beatiful conformation and wants me to stud him and in return I would get my choice of the litter. But I don't know why she wants to do this sense mine is UKC registered. I was interested in the puppy part but I want to know what changes this would evolve in my dog. Also he is young (4 months) how long would I have to wait. But like I said I am only asking out of curiousity sence I am most likly not having anything to do with it. Please tell me what problems and pros come with studing a dog once?

My dogs are six years old and healthy. The problem is that I have bipolar disorder and am trying to pass university to get a job and don't have time to properly take care of them. I'm too scared to give them away in case they are mistreated and don't know anyone personally who will take care of them. They have had a very good life so far and I am considering getting them put down humanely. They wouldn't know it wasn't a regular vet visit. Am I doing something terrible though? I am worried if I don't pass I will have another nervous breakdown and end up in a mental institution. They were originally my sister's dogs and she can't take care of them either. I love them so much but I also need to get a job. I would never get pets again obviously They wouldn't feel any pain or know their lives were ending if I choose euthanasia, but if I give them up, I will worry for life that they might be abused.
