Dogs - March 2007

My doggy is a senior and she has a hard time walking, because her 2 back legs are weakening, so she has trouble standing up, and I cringe everytime I see her trying to walk (think of a worm or snake slithering). I really want to help her, and I was thinking of purchasing a granny stand for dogs, but I'm not sure if that's even invented!
If you have any good ideas or found a website where they sell some "help a senior stand" equipment, please link it to me or tell me some good links.

She is a Rottweiler. Therefore, she is a large dog. Her belly did get a little larger. Not much though. So, I didn't think she was pregnant and since the gestation period is approx. 63 days is it possible she is having pups? This is my first time breeding a large breed. I have always bred chihuahuas and cockers. Any ideas? She has made herself a spot in a corner (more like a hiding place) and is sleeping a lot for 2 days now.

My 9 month old dobie was hospitalized for a week an received numerous injections of Baytril, Banamine and Penacillin. He now has a large lump on the back of his neck that feels like a fluid filled sac. My vet said it was a injection site reaction from too many shots in one area. I think it was the shots themselves. Will any of these injection cause something like this? Incidentally, my pup doesn't seem to be in any pain and I have been applying warm compresses to the affected area about 3 times a day. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

I have the sweetest loving pup, but he wants to be next to me all the time, how do you fix this? I've had him for about 9 months. (I know a lot of you know a lot of things)

He injured his shoulder and the vet has ordered cage rest for him. He cannot stand to urinate. He is on training pads which I change immediately when they are wet. Should I try to wash the area where the urine gets on his skin? And if so, what should I wash him with? Thanks for any help.

I've been hanging out in the religion and spirituality section lately and let me tell you! Think people can be mean in the dog section? WOW!! I thought hanging out with a bunch of supposedly religious people would be a welcome break...I was way wrong. (There are many nice people there, but the nasty ones speak up more).

Anyone else find other sections that are more harsh then "dogs"?

i have two rottweilers, over the past 3-4 days my dog brownie would sit in the corner of the backyard whining and crying, and his mouth would be all foamy. He would sit there day and night, I cant even get him in the house i would either have to drag him or carry him and if i do he has a fit. There is a dog on the other side of my house. I still dont know why his mouth is very foamy and why he is crying. He doesnt even want to go for walks anymore ! Any ideas ???

My dad just came in a left my dog's droppings on the counter.
My mom went balistic!
Then he said he threw out!
And we looked in the trash can and the leash was in there!
And he still doesn't beleive that he put the leash in the trash!
He's in denial.
Thats my dad :-)

My dog suffers from ear infections, and I wondered if anyone knew where i could get this antibiotic called Cephalexin? My dog Nacho has had chronic infections and every time I take him to the vet, they priscribe the same priscription. Does anyone know where i can get this to keep handy?

I hurt my back and my dogs need a bath bad! 2dogs have short hair and 1 has medium hair and then there's the sheltie, OMG, the HAIR ,it's everywhere! He needs to be comb out trimmed and nails done.Anyone up for the challange? He's really good about the whole deal.I would take him to the groomers but he told me he didn't like her and the other dogs picked on him because he's pretty.Plus I can't get up in my truck because of my back. OHHH maybe I'll just take a pill and just do it. What would you do?

I work at a Animal Hospital and today the Humane Society brought in a puppy that was 4-6 mths and under 10 lbs, it had bit a lady and had not had its shots yet. The Humane Society ordered it to be put to sleep because the owner said it was acting agressive around her kids. We tried to talk them out of signing the papers and letting one of us take the dog home and they refused. I consider this Unhumane and Abuse because a PUPPY that age could be counciled with a dog trainer and it could also grown out of it. Because the animals do not have voices they do not have rights is what some think. They are garbage that can be tossed away. Also in Lousianna Pit-Bulls are used for Labortory and then put to sleep because they can not be adopted out. I own Pit-Bulls and never found them to be agressive, because that is not aloud in my pack. How can I start to stop these situations and speak up for these animals. It's got to stop. How can I protest the Humane Society?

she's 6 month's old i have her since she's 1 month. she's a chiuaua mix with dachsund. She's so lonely today and she don't wanna play with me. She just lay down in one side and just sleep there. what's wrong with her? and how can i solve it? does she have fever?

Her nipples are larger and just now I squeezed her nipples and she has a clearish discharge from them. I only checked because for about three days she has been laying around and sleeping a lot. VERY unlike her. She doesn't really look pregnant though. Only a little bigger in the belly. Very little. She is a Rottweiler. My sweet baby.She would be due around a week or two ago I think. Is a clear redish discharge normal???? Or a sign that she may in fact be pregnant?? Thanks?

If i need to put down my dog, and i will be leaving town soon, should i just let the people at the kenel do it while i am away? or is that mean. i kind of want to be there, but it would be totally emotional. yet, i will be emotional anyway.
