I've been hanging out in the religion and spirituality section lately and let me tell you! Think people can be mean in the dog section? WOW!! I thought hanging out with a bunch of supposedly religious people would be a welcome break...I was way wrong. (There are many nice people there, but the nasty ones speak up more).
Anyone else find other sections that are more harsh then "dogs"?

KJ, you are much more daring than I! I have read some of the other areas, but I have seen too many Trolls hanging around and have always come back to the relative "safety" of dogs!

The religion section scares me---but right now I am so bugged by a question I just read I feel like making the dog section a little tougher---and meaner.
Grrrr.
I know you've read some of my answers before and know I'm not the mean type, but I think I'm going to learn how to be.
Someone asking about "imperial" shih tzus just gave a very nasty reply to a perfectly honest answer explaining the usual (that it is a marketing term and the "breed" doesn't exist, etc).
The asker called the answerer "dummer than a sack of hammers."
So, is the dog section tough? I dunno. I DO, however, know how to spell "dumber" and I think I'm going to start tossing that word around.
So welcome back. I have found you to be a sane and reasonable person on a site which seems to collect an unusually high number of unreasonable and angry people.
Best wishes.

I don't think the dog section is harsh :-) or maybe I'm being one of the mean ones and don't realize it? Im only trying to help! Someone feel free to smack me into reality if im being too harsh....
I've never been to the religious sections, but I can guess what you mean.... most (so-called) religious people ive met can be downright nasty if they disagree w you, even if a little.......
I guess the only mean section I've seen... and i wouldnt call it section, just one person... is in the psychology section where there is this troll that is telling everybody that asks anything and they sound depressed that they are schizophrenic, need hospitalization, and have to tell the motor bureau to take their license away bc they are dangerous drivers.....

I've been hanging out in the politics section and it's *definitely* meaner over there than it is in the dog section. :) It's also really fun, though -- more "spirited" attacks from all sides (instead of a few nasty eggs who make it their project to bash individuals who happen to hold opinions that differ from their own). Yeah, politics is waaaay nastier, but it's somehow less personal (does that make sense?) than the dog section. I guess that on the dog board, you don't really *expect* people to attack you simply because you happen to hold different opinions about certain debatable issues. When you enter the politics section, you sort of know what you're letting yourself in for. :)
In all fairness, though, most of the people in the dog section are quite friendly; there is really only a very small handful of nasty know-it-alls who try to dominate and bully; then, of course, there are the nuts & the trolls -- but you can find nuts and trolls in *all* of the sections.
Okay, I'm zipping back to politics now. Peace! :)

People in the dog section can be pretty passionate about the carre of ALL pets, which often can come across as being "HARSH". I admit, I probably am guilty of this.
Read all of the posts about my dog has diarehha, and hasn't eaten for 3 days- does anyone have a home remedy? Or I want to breed my(fill in the blank)- ... then you will see the passion come out of the wood work. !

When I get bored with the same old questions in dogs I have been reading through entertainment or polls and surveys (even answered a few) there doesn't seem to be too many nasty people there and it is entertaining, some of the jokes are pretty funny too.

Yes, I agree, that's why I'm more cautious when wording my question, people can really be mean, however I don't let it get to me, but on my last one I included the words, I know a lot of you know a lot of things, haha, so they see, I know they are know it alls, it's for the ones that are so rude. (some people just won't get it) Oh well, too bad. And so far like you I thought these were the roughest sections. Welcome and good luck. Just put some words like I did "I know a lot of you know a lot of things" or maybe I'll say pardon my ignorance, haha

I can't hang out there anymore. Not everyone who answers the questions are particularly religious, and all sides can be mean and ignorant. Maybe I will visit the dog section :0)

Hi, KJ.
The political forum is pretty rough, too...Of course I think only those who love a good fight would go there..
Last year, I enjoyed the R&S category, but it became worse, and so rude, I gave up on it.. I do enjoy certain user's posts, so go there to read occasionally..

The religion one is. I am not christian, and have gotten beaten down for it with any question I have asked or answered (seriously, not in jest).
