I have an 8 month old male golden retriever that weighs 70lbs and a female golden retriever that is 16 weeks at 30lbs. Is there any way to predict their adult weight is they continue to grow at this rate? They do not seem to fit into any growth chart that I have seen. They are both very healthy and not overweight. When I took my boy to the vet when he was a puppy, he said that his adult weight would be between 60 -70lbs. He is not done growing and has already hit the vet's top weight for his predicted adult size . Any resources that I can find to help me out? Thank you in advance!

HI,

My friend has a nine year year old golden retriever. Given the opportunity she will eat her own poo. Can anyone advise her as to how solve this horrible habit that she's got. (Someone told her to feed the dog pineapple would this do the trick?)

2 days ago our 12 year old Chocolate Lab died in her sleep. 3 yrs. ago we brought a mini-daschund into our home. The lab actually nursed the doxie and has spent the last 3 years, routinely grooming her, playing with her etc...Since the loss of the lab the doxie waits at the door for the lab and also tries to dig at the gravesite of the lab whenever let out. Is she mourning or is she picking up on our sad feelings?

She was not the one we were originally going to keep, so to avoid becoming attached, we just called her baby. Well, I can't become attached to her...and I think it's because of the name "baby" and I need to give her a new one. I want it to be something cute, not too weird. We named her mama Jessy, it was perfect for her. can you help please???? she is very light in color, but I don't know how to put her pic in here.

My friend has a corgi dog (you know the one that leaves it alone all day) He came home the other day after walking her and she ran straight up the stairs with her lead on and accidentally which brushed against the wall and made it dirty. Usually she stays lets him remove the lead from her but this time she didn't. He then got very angry and shouted at her very loudly to come back down the stairs which she did but she had her ears down and looked dejected. Was this cruel? do you need to shout at animals if they don't do what you want them to do?

I have asked a couple of questions about this dog already, and her obsessive drinking... found out some new info on her. She has been treated for fleas repeatedly. They go away for a couple of weeks, then come back, then she gets worms. This cycle has gone on since my sister has had her. Everytime she has treated her with Frontline, which I have NEVER had a problem with. If her apt is infested, could this happen over and over without her realizing? Is there any kind of a problem that can make dogs more suseptable to getting fleas, then worms from fleas? I think this may have a lot to do with her drinking, because her urine is concentrated, unlike the symptoms of JRD. And, yes, for all those that are going to say it.... I will be taking her to the vet.

The things I am looking for are.....

- smaller than a great dane bigger than a cocker spaniel
- protective but not aggressive
- good with children
- fast learner
- not too common i.e. not a labrador
- won't eat my chickens
- good with other animals (other dogs, cats, chickens)
- easy to care for
- nothing "prissy" (no poodles)

Hi, I have got a male staffordshire bull terrier that I have had for nearly 5 years now. He is still eliminating in his crate, day and night, he even seems to wait sometimes until he has got in it before he will do a poo. It is getting to the stage now where he is always covered in urine as he is lying in it and then he spends the next hour cleaning his fur, I am bathing him about once or twice a week to get rid of the smell.
Does anyone have any suggestions about how I can get him to stop this, I don't tell him off when he has done it, I just clean it up. I go outside with him and give him praise and treats when he goes to the toilet outside, I have even bought him a DAP (dog appeasing pheromone) diffuser to try and stop it but nothing seems to be working.
If anyone has any suggestions at all, I would be very greatful (and i'm sure my dog will be too)
I have also got another dog of the same breed/age and he has never had this problem.
Thanks again.

I Have a 5month old puppy. He has a great 'personality' and has so far been fairly well behaved (I think Ive been quite lucky). It is the first dog I have owned by myself, and I am thinking about getting another to keep him company and for my own benenfit.
Will his behaviour change when i get another dog? Will he become less attached to me or protective? If it is a new pup, may he unlearn what Ive taught him?

We are on a tight schedule around here very little changes from day to day. Every morning for the past two weeks, my eight year old nuetered male freaks out becoming very aggressive towards my daughter as she is leaving for school. He is the calmest dog I have . A very well trained service dog but, top dog of my seven. I have to put him on a lead everyday or outside when she is preparing to leave. He doesnt go after her but stands between her and the door barking, growling, showing teeth with hair up. At first we tried ignoring it telling him No (didnt want to make big deal out of it) My son leaves for school ten minutes later he doesnt react, my boyfriend leaves...nothing. This is a new behavior and it is only with my daughter he does this. She has been leaving the same time for four months. Why the sudden change?
