good food and lots of excercise.. you really dont want to encourage too much growth before he is 18 months

1 year olds normally look long and lanky, think of how a 13 or 14 year old boy would be built, he's roughly at the same life stage. He will fill out on his own between now and 2 years old. A good quality dog food that's high in protein, make sure he doesn't have worms, get him exercise, and nature will take its course.

Make sure you a feeding them a good quality dog food and keep them active. I live on a hill and my Boxer runs the hill with me playing with his toys. We do alot of hiking and running around. You want to do the same types of things you would do to put muscle on yourself - Good quality food, cardio (hiking, long walks, swimming) and "weights" (tug of war, rope poles, etc). This "regiment" has kept my Boxer healthy, happy and well toned.

Take him for walks and play outside, it's truly all it takes. That's how I beefed up my Mastiffs.
