Yes, I know that dogs arent cats but I have such a picky eating puppy and last night I gave him a lil salmon and he loved it...Will this hurt him? I cant get him to eat his dog food and I am sooo tired....of force feeding it to him....I MIXED some of the salmon with his dog food today and he ate all by himself....Is this okay?

Have you tried different kinds of puppy foods? Your puppy will not starve himself.

I wouldn't add salmon to the food. You're going to start a trend that will follow you throughout this dog's entire life. Pretty soon that dog will have you cooking him steaks every night LOL!

Feed him puppy food. He needs the nutrients in the puppy food as he grows.

There's nothing wrong with treating your dog to snacks every now and then, but dog food needs to be the staple of his diet.

Make sure it's a healthy puppy food and not puppy chow. Do your research, talk to your vet, and read the ingredients before you buy.

Good luck!

Well-cleaned, thoroughly cooked, deboned fish of any kind probably wouldn't hurt your dog. Salmon isn't poisonous in and of itself.there is a serious, potentially fatal disease called "salmon poisoning," which is actually caused by a tiny, parasitic organism carried by a fluke (a small, flat worm) that fish can pick up. Cooking fish kills the organism, so "salmon poisoning" can only be passed along by raw or undercooked fish.

Yes, fish is really good for dogs - salmon oil will keep his skin and coat in great condition. You just need to make sure there's no bones, and don't feed him too much, justenough that he'll eat his food.

I actually feed my dogs blocks of frozen Salmon once weekly. They love it and it has many good nutrients. It is not good for constant feeding. Maybe you can SLOWLY reduce the amount you are putting in the dog food until the dog is eating just the dog food. Then you could just add it once in a while.

As long as it's cooked and you've taken the bones out, there's no reason not to give real meat to a dog. Human-quality meat is MUCH better than dog-food, especially dry dog food which some dogs are sensitive to (the wheat and other grains in it can make their skin and coat bad - the fish will make it fantastic.)

Salmon is wonderful for your puppy! It is really healthy for them and if he will eat his puppy food when you mix salmon in it, that's great!
