i plan on getting one from humane society (i volunteer there and know there are many needy animals). however, i have never taken care of a dog on my own. i helped my grandma with hers and had dogs growing up though.

i prefer a medium to large dog of the no-poodle/spaniel variety.

any suggestions?

I heard from my friend that bulldogs are dangerous and can kill you because they aim at your throat. Is that true?

We are having Really, Really bad problems with one of our shih-tuzs, And We Really need to get something Done About It. She doesn't listen, she acts like a kid, pees off the pad (and just so happens to pee on the couch,? Coincidence, I think not, we do every thing for this dog and still she treats us this way!?), poos off the pad, its only getting worse.

Today we came home to a dirty, messy, pee-pad tore-up house with poo mashed into the carpet, which is absolutely pathetic! Thank goodness we put them in a seprate area where the whole house wouldn't be screwed up, and poo mashed on the couch, along with pee! I hate this dog so bad, with a passion!

What should we do with her? Shelter, sale her or what, she needs to be outside where she belongs, but we have no friends that can take her.

My new puppy will be here tomorrow but my schedule is kind of tight. School starts at 7:40 in the morning. I go to school a half hour away and I can't drive myself home. I stay at this one place until 6:30 pm which is when I get picked up to go home. Nobody else gets home until at least 7:00 pm. I don't know if it is a good choice to leave my new puppy alone for so long during the day. What should I do?

he is a boy, we are the second owner, he still has all his boy stuff intact and he attacks EVERY man who enters our house.

We have been to the vet who basically attributed it to anxiety. We have been to "classes". We are at a loss. This dog does not have much time left in this house (his only saving grace is my daughter...who adores him) until we put him up for adoption to a home with NO MEN.

Any ideas........PLEASE?

My Mom calls it an underbite...
Well, the bottom of her jaw is about an inch more out than the top of it, and the bottom of her teeth some out out of her mouth.
She is a Shih Tzu puppy, 3 months old, is this normal?

My roommate's girlfriend lives with us and she has 8 animal's in our smaller house. Now shes one of those people that gets an animal and gets bored of it after 2 weeks and gets another. So she likes to show dogs at shows, now she keeps these 2 dogs in cages all day except like 2 times a day to go out for a potty break. Her reasoning is that show dogs need this kind of treatment so they'll be good for a show? Is that true?

We have a miniature schnauzer that is almost seven years old. Within the past few months he has begun to get us up once or twice a night to go outside to urinate. He acts like 'I gotta go right now'. His daytime habits haven't really changed. He's eating and drinking the same as he always has, but he's driving us crazy with all these sleep interuptions. Is this a behavior problem or health issue?

i have a pug and a terrier mix. both dogs will not eat dog food dry or canned. not even the pouches with gravy added. they will only eat frest liver that i steam. then i cut it up in small pieces for them to eat. our vet this week said that liver is dangerous for dogs and can break down their panchreas. is this true? i am worried as our ogs have been eating liver for a couple of years now. my terrier also enjoys scrambled eggs which i have read is not good as dairy is bad for dogs so we stopped that. my husband and i have tried everything and the dogs will literally go without eating unless they have liver. they also eat dog treats like beggin strips, liver dog crackers and chicken jerky dog treats. regards.

Story goes, I want a puppy. I've decided that puppies that are unrelated to notoriously mean dogs do not exist in the state of Florida, so I've got an idea...
Are there any pet rescue/shelter organizations where you could aquire a femal dog of breeding age who is NOT spayed? Yes, I know someone's gonna come out and tell me that back-yard breeding is no good, but my neighbor has this great little unneutered fluffball of a mutt *i think he's got pom in him, but not enough to look it...* and this would be a one time deal. I want a small breed MIX *or purebred works, too, but that would just be icing on the cake* so that I am well assured that I could find homes for any of the puppies I may not want. I may keep them all though, I have a habit of that. Anyways, I want the puppy experience, and I would spay the female once the pups are weened so no unwanted babies.
In short, anyone know of an intact female in the Lake Butler, Fl. area of a small fluffy mix? *like a pom or pap or something*
