why do you need to give your dog away Hun, you obviously love him heaps. could you not work out away to keep him. it is a very heart braking decision you have made, no matter how well you prepare yourself for the day he leaves, your emotions will get the better of you. please reconsider giving him away, he will pine for you as much as you for him Hun.

I know how you feel. I've lost so many of my beloved pets to snake bites. I don't think you should give him away. With a little time and effort you can train your dog to stay out of the road. My red bone hound used to chase cars all the time and we trained her with patience and she doesn't chase them anymore. If you want to be extra careful, put a fence around the yard or keep him in a pen and walk him on a leash. Another thing you can do is, put down an underground barrier fence. The dog wears a special collar and anytime he crosses the barrier it gives him a mild electrical shock. It is totally humane, my vet recomended it to me and it works great. After using the barrier collar on him for a while, he will learn that if he goes into the road he will get shocked, and so naturaly he will stay in your yard.
There is no way to give up your pet without crying. Even your dog will be upset, he'll wonder where his master is.
With just a little training and time it will save you and your dog a lot of heartache.♥

nothing is gonna stop you crying about this. Maybe the other family will train your dog to be better behaved & not run off? I dont know why you are rehoming your dog but I assume it must be for a good reason. Let the new family know all his habits like running off etc & I am sure they will do their best. Sorry you are upset but you need to do what is best for your pet

I was in a simlar dilemma few yrs back,i had to rehome my beuatiful boy barney a lab x collie,i had no choice at the time and it broke my heart i cried and cried.I still love him now,he was my 1st dog i had of my own and he'll always be special. If you haven't got no option but to rehome him try rehoming him to friends where you can have up dates or even see him still,if that isn't an option then try rehoming him privatly through classifieds,it makes it harder putting them in kennels and just leaving them there.I have worked in rescue kennels and i've been well and truly be hind the seens,it's not as good as it all looks, although alot of charity's do a good job on doggie welfare.Good luck

im not sure why you have ti give your dog away , but, its never easy and if you dont cry then youll never be able to get over the loss. im sure its for a good reason and have you evr thought of the fact that its not dying, its just moving-on in life, loosing a oet is never easy but try to beleive in this, ,, id rather meat someone who has loved and lost and then picked themselves up, dusted themselves of and started all over again, than to meet somone who doesnt have the courage because they got hurt once before. be brave and good luck

YOU SHOULDN'T GIVE A DOG AWAY WITHOUT CRYING,IT IS A FAMILY MEMBER AND SHOULD BE LOVED AS ONE, NOT TO BE A THING DISCARDED WITH NO THOUGHT.CRYING SHOWS THERE IS FEELINGS FOR THE DOG,RESEARCH THE HOME BEFORE PLACING A DOG THERE,ASK ADVICE FROM A LOCAL DOG TRAINER .TRY TO KEEP YOUR DOG IF AT ALL POSSIBLE.

I don't think you can give a family member away without crying. Sometimes you have to do what is best for the family member despite the pain it may cause you. Loving them sometimes means you have to hurt a little. I'm sorry.

Why are you giving it away???? If you have to give him away you should find him a home with someone who has a fenced yard.
