that we've had since a puppy, won't leave him alone!! Our Shepherd licks and "grabs" the new dogs head (it doesn't appear to hurt him) and won't let him sit to even rest!! How do we stop this?? (We've tried a squirt bottle and just physically stopping him.) Our shepherd just wants to play, but the new one doesn't want to. Do we let them work it out? We were also told about putting chile pepper on the new dogs head so the shepherd won't lick it.

I've always been curious about placing deposits for upcoming litters, maybe you could clear this up for me:

1. If a breeder takes deposits on pups before the birth, do they allow the buyer to request a gender? If so, then when the pups are born does the buyer then get to choose from the available pups of that gender? Or does the breeder choose?

2. If the breeder accepts 6 deposits and, for whatever reason, the mother dog only has 4 pups how does the breeder decide who gets a pup?

3. Assuming you did not get a pup, are deposits refundable?

Thanks so much!

I live in Toronto, Canada and am looking for an affordable vet/clinic to spay my small breed puppy. My vet charges around Can$300. Is that a good rate? Kindly provide me with a phone number if you have good recommendations. Please and thank you.

My "Bubba" has bad hips and runs fever at night. I do all I can to help him get around. I bought those doggie steps to help him get on and off the bed. I was told to give him Aspirin (baby) which brings me to my next ?... How do I give him one with-out him knowing? Do I give him a whole one or do I break one in half? I know in my heart that my Bubba is at the end of his sweet life and it is killing me. I am a disabled woman. We live in an assisted living place and we only have each other. I do not want my little guy to hurt and I do not want to fight with him to take a pill. Why stress us out. Any ideas?

her vet told me she was 3 kgs underweight she was always a fit and a little chubby puppy but since we moved a month ago she lost 3 kgs and her vet told me she needs to go them back up. so i was wondering what type of healhy food will help her gain weight (p.s she hates dry or dog food, and she eats everything from chicken, meat, and occasionally tuna to veggies and rice. ) and i stay away from all the dangerou stuff like onions garlic chocolate...etc the list is long

We just got a dog --a Pomeranian--the only problem is she stinks to high heaven! I don't know why, maybe because she lived with a lot of other dogs out in the orchards. What can we do to make her less stinky?

I am confident my puppy has an ear infection - he doesn't want anyone to touch his ear and has wax coming out of his ear. I am going to call the vet tomorrow (Monday) to take him in because he just started showing symptoms yesterday (Saturday). Does anyone have any advise on how to keep him comfortable until I can get him into the doctor? (Could I try a warm compress or something like that? I don't want to try anything too drastic/putting anything in his ear before I speak with the vet as this is his first infection.)

I am interested in dog grooming as a profession. I did a 1-summer dog grooming internship and enjoyed it. I did some grooming and a lot of watching.

Next, I talked to dog groomers and heard many complaints. Most say that they are way to busy and have arthritis or some other problem from working with their hands all day.

I would like to here opinions about this job from actual groomers or those that know a lot about the industry. Will I be dissappointed like so many others? Would dog training or boarding be a better career choice?

We adopted a 13 week old puppy, half Fila Mastiff/Half St. Bernard. She is adorable and sweet most of the time. But she can become very agressive with us, biting and ripping at our clothes skin . . . what can we do? Is this her way of playing? Or ??? We tried getting her interest into her toys at times like these, or saying a FIRM NO! Nothing seems to work . . . any suggestions?
