If a human gets strep throat can it be passed on to your dog?

Nope (since the streptococcal organism that causes it is a normal inhabitant of a dog's mouth anyway.)

Because of that, the opposite can happen, however. (GETTING strept throat from 'kissing' your dog.) It's not extremely common, but it has been reported in the medical literature. It's usually only when the dogs have those really disgusting, tartar-caked, and pus-oozing teeth with reddened and infected gums....but in theory, it can happen even if the teeth are not that bad.

Everyone reading this, look in your dog's mouth RIGHT NOW. If you don't see pearly white, clean teeth with normal healthy-pink gum tissue....please make an appointment with your DVM to see whether or not your pet needs a dental cleaning. Don't just schedule the cleaning first, since some dogs have to be started on antibiotics for 2-3 days beforehand. (Others can wait and start the same day as the cleaning.)

If dental health is neglected, the bacteria from that infection will enter your dog's bloodstream each and every time he eats....and wear out his internal organs at an alarming rate. Dogs with dental disease develop liver, kidney, and heart disease/failure at MUCH younger ages than dogs whose teeth receive proper medical attention.

Nobody has come alongside and proved it however a few consider that puppies is usually a provider for the micro organism that motives strep. They do not get in poor health from it although. Personally, puppies and men and women have such extraordinary pH ... I do not consider they may be able to also be companies. *shrug* At very least, your puppy isn't going to GET strep from you.

not for sure...but i have been told all my life that a dogs mouth is cleaner than our because of all the bacteria killing stuff in their saliva.....so i would guess they have a pretty high immune system.......i mean they lick their own butts and don't get sick!

No. Most things we get dogs cannot get. If you think your dog is sick then take it to the vet
