i have my first dog, a yellow lab, named duke. he is 1 1/2 years old. i am home all day with him, and i noticed that he sleeps a lot, and doesn't want to go outside too much, unless i am out there. is this normal? he checked out of the humane society with a clean bill of health and is up to date with his shots...my friends gave him to me, and they took him to the vet recently for a check up and he was declared healthy by them too.
that said, would this be normal dog behavior? he is playful and happy, eats a lot and drinks a lot...i have never owned a dog before, so i am not sure if they are supposed to sleep this much. i have had cats, and i know they sleep most of the day, and he is sleeping as much as a cat would. it's also really hot out...

My dog just had hers done because of a tail injury and I was quite shocked at the appearence when I took her bandage off. The vet is closed right now and it is freaking me out. My mom says it looks normal but to me it is just plain creepy. Please help!

He is in otherwise good healt except for some Arthritis in his back
legs and perhaps lower back. Does anyone have experience with this kind of situation or can offer some ideas. Bless all of you who are animal lovers!

I have two dogs (a male jack russell terrier and a female dachshound/terrier mix) and I wanted to know what age I can breed them, what kinds of health checks they will need, and all that stuff. Right now the male is 2 1/2 months and the female is 1 1/2 years. Thanks so much!

If I take her to the dog park she seems ok with dogs, does not bark sometimes comes back and stands behind me like I need to protect her or something, but she not violent. What do I do when she sees a dog across the street through the window and keeps barking??

I have a 8 week old chichaua.I cleaned out his kennel and washed his bed in the washing machine.The bed had a few fleas on it.When I took it out of the dryer there were very small worms on the bed.They were soooooooo... small, and skinny,and really short.They were sort of dark in color.He went to the vet last week and had all his shots and got wormed.HELP!!!!!!!!

I was outside watering the garden, when my dog started sniffing around in there....I called her away to see her foaming at the mouth...I looked in and saw a big toad.. I remembered hearing toads are poisonous to animals, so I took the hose and rinsed her mouth out. I called the emergency clinic and they said to wash her mouth out (which I already did) and said she would be fine.
Im terrified that something will happen, but she seems fine..I live in Ohio so these are probably regular old toads (though this one looked pretty big) Anyway just wondering if I should take her anyway or just wait and see...Like I said she seems fine, but one never knows..Thanks

She itches more so after sleeping. She is not sleeping on any fabric or materials that would cause itching. The vet has seen her twice and says her skin looks great. She has been itching so much that her fur has broken off near her shoulders and neck (not complete hair loss, but shorter then the rest of her hair). Any tips or suggestions? Also, has anyone every heard of a maltipoo with hair breakage from itching? Thanks for any info, the poor thing will stop mid-play to scratch.
