Dogs - July 2006

One of my dogs has this horrible habit of treating the cat litter box like it's a vending machine. It's really disgusting and I just do not understand this. Is there anyway to stop this nasty behavior (besides getting rid of the dog 'cause the cats stay)? And why do some dogs do this anyway?

Dont you find it hypocritical when someone says their dog is stupid, and yet the dog can understand our language but the owner cant even interpret the most obvious signals the dog is giving them?? I mean dogs do have body language after all why is it that people dont realize how amazing it is that a dog can learn the meaning of hundreds of words? and why cant most people understand more canine body language? I had a lady come up to my fence and try to pet my dog even though he was growling and barking in her face (clearly saying stop or I will bite you in dog language) and she totally didnt get what he was trying to convey to her and would have been bitten if I hadnt told her what he was trying to communicate.

should i try to stop my dogs habit of eating poop? i dont really see any harm in it.. he eats his own, the cats, and a few times even ours right out of the toilet... he seems to like it more than the world.. is it bad for him?

my son just bought a rottweiler puppy , I have some concern about whether or not its full blooded , it is jet black with no red or tan markings at all , to me it looks like a black lab with a docked tail, my son paid 400.00 for this pup and was told the papers are not ready yet , something doesnt seeem right to me

My dog is usually very good about obeying commands. The only time I have a problem with her is when she gets out of the fence or off her lease. She gets so excited that she usually runs right into the street before I can get her attention again. Then she will come back to me, but I know one of these days our luck is going to run out.

i want to breed my dog i want to know the age cause i thought it was at 8 months to a year cause if the older they are the harder labor they go through. my grandpa is going to help pay for everything cause he wants a puppy cause his just died for kindeys he paid for her to stay alive all the test they need to do and they vet said that is all we can do so i know he will help me and he LOVES DOGS so i wanted to know what age is best thanks

I have done lots of research, but now that I have her I feel very excited. She is a 40 day old Chiwhawha. The seller told me that she had already begun eating soft dog treats and water by herself. He told me to give her a stuffed animal when she slept so she would not miss her mother.

Right now she is in a card board box that is a little over a foot tall and two feet wide. She has 5 blankets to use a a cusion. And a medium sized brown teddt bear. Is this okay????

What food should I offer her tommorow (she is sleeping right now)? Is water soaked kibble okay?
Is it normal for a 40 day old Chi not to be very active? She walks around but likes being held.
How ofter should it pee and poo?
The owner told me to bathe it, is it ok if I bathe it tommorow?
What else is important regarding my new dog? I have no other dogs right now. What else should I know?

why do people always say that they loved Pitbulls till the one they had attacked for no reason or they knew someone who's dog attacked unprovoked.
I would like to hear from Dog breeders and Trainers that can explain to those out there that do not understand dogs and think they do how there were signs that they just missed and list the signs for those people.

I've noticed while parusing (I think I spelled that wrong) the various areas of Y.A. this area has some of the nicest people, that also know how to type. Not to mention their education level seems to be among the highes.

When my dog eats she takes one kibble and then goes to the other side of the house to eat it. Then she comes back gets a new one and repeats the same steps. WTF? is this normal?

If anyone else doesn't know, Blue Heeler's and other sheepdogs are extremely tough and very hard to discipline but just spanking alone. I've also tried turning her on her back, grabbing her throat, and looking her straight in the eye, just like the momma would have done, but it's not exactly working. Another other suggestions?

diabetes is a humans responsibily to give your pet his shot... no going out partying and forgetting to give him a shot before you go to work...to this wag ....waging dog he does't know you had the time of your life 3 hours after you left he started feeling weak but atwork you smile fro ear to ear ...boy did i have a good time last night....hour 4 your dog feels like he had just had his being turned inside out he don't know you did it so he moves on he waits for to help him you come home knowing he needs his shot but you want to lay down cuz of the hangover first....he don,t know why he feels o bad ....he lays down barley breathing but when you walk in the room his tail jumps up and down...you finally say to yourself oh i should give his shot...you i hope will suffer judgement day...i hope this happens to you..in my book tables should be reversed your dog would not do this to you.....One little bottle,one needle,2 minutes..but you scored on some feel good expernce
