My dog is usually very good about obeying commands. The only time I have a problem with her is when she gets out of the fence or off her lease. She gets so excited that she usually runs right into the street before I can get her attention again. Then she will come back to me, but I know one of these days our luck is going to run out.

I have trained my dog not to run in the street but I'm not stupid enough to trust that, its just a backup. Sounds like you want it for that too so I'll tell you what I did. He has to know the sit/stay commands. Then when walking him on the leash approach the road and say sit or stay before he gets to the cement part. As long as he sits/stops at the turf praise, praise, praise. If he approaches the cement part without you leading he gets a no. When he gets a no, step back to the turf with sit/stay commands followed by more priase when he does it. Then you need to train him off lead. Good news is you don't have to use the road and moving traffic to do it. Just cement somewhere. Dogs will never know the difference between a road and a driveway, but they know the feel under their feet. What you're really teaching him is caution around cement because all roads are cement. Pretty soon he does this all by hiself. Like with any behavior you have to get very good at catching them being good. When you see him stop short of the road all on his own go to him with treats and hugs. My dog is a praise addict so it was very easy to train him this way.

Lots and lots and lots of practice on a long leash with different distractions.

Read “The Koehler Method of Dog Training” by Bill Koehler. He outlines a very solid step-by-step method for this problem. This is a good book for training Shepherds, but I don’t think that Koehler reminds you to PRAISE your dog enough! More than half of training should be motivation.

Read some other great books on training. (Try not to pick books randomly - there are a lot of bad books out there also!) These are some of my favorites and you can get them on Amazon.com

A dog should be trained on how to eat, walk with you, not to bark, potty training and sleep on its place etc. You can teach anything to your puppy, dogs get trained easily with some good instructions. If you want some good training tips visit https://tr.im/Vj6Qt

If properly trained, they should also understand whistle and gesture equivalents for all the relevant commands, e.g. short whistle or finger raised sit, long whistle or flat hand lay down, and so on.

It's important that they also get gestures and whistles as voice may not be sufficient over long distances and under certain circumstances.

MY FRIEND WOULD THROW FIRE CRACKERS INTO THE STREET JUST PAST THE DOG WHILE YELLING "NO" THEN COME. THE DOG WOULD FREEZE AND TURN AND COME BACK. AND AFTER TWO X TRYING THE DOG DECIDED THE STREET = FIRECRACKERS AND SHE DIDNT WANT TO GO THERE ANY MORE. 11 YEARS LATER SHE IS STILL HERE AND WONT GO IN THAT STREET! GOOD LUCK. OH, HE "SET UP " THESE TWO TRAINING SCARES.

Get one of those invisible electric fences. She wears a colar and you put steaks in the ground. When she hits the line it will give her a good jolt. It will only take her a few times to learn where the boundaries are and she will not cross them again. A good jolt is better than a car!

Do not let her out of your fence or off her leash. If she is escaping, fix it.

I absolutely HATE it when I am out walking my dogs and some dog comes running up to us. You have NO IDEA if my dogs are friendly. I carry pepper spray and will use it if a dog charges us, it is my job to protect my dogs.

Keep your dog safe and confine him.

by leash training with a choker collar.they really aren't bad to train with. take her by the road(not too close duh) and be firm, but not too rough whenever she tries to take off. take her for a walk training like this. To keep her in the fence try electronic collar fence devices, I've seen them work many times
