I have tried the shock collar, (he wore the batteries out constantly), had him nuetered only to get him home and he jumped the fence to get back into the yard same day as the surgery. I have 3 other dogs for him to play with and I throw the ball to him also so I know he is not lonely. Short of concrete booties I am at a loss.

Our neighbor just gave my husband a 6 month old red nose Pit bull.I've heard story that Pit bulls are aggressive dogs and are not good to have around Childern. We have 2 kid ages 1 & 3. My husband says she is a nice dog and not aggressive ,but I still dont want my Kids near the dog.So my question is. Is this dog ok to be around our kids or shoul we give it away?

I (foolishly) used pain to punish him for messes when I would arrive home. Now he is very submissive and sometimes down-right scared of me at times. I know I was wrong to use pain as a teaching tool and have since changed my ways. Please do not answer just to lecture me as I feel bad enough already. He will play with my gf by her moving her hand around his head and touching his snout and he will gently mouth at her hand and give play growls, but I can't get him to do that with me. Is it because I have hit him in the past for misbehaving? That is what I assume is the issue. I feel awful about the way I have treated him, and want to be able to play with him in that manner. I play fetch with him all the time and he loves that, but he won't play the gentle mouthing game mentioned above with me. Is it becuase he is so submissive of me that he won't dare do anything to challenge me? I want to play that way him sooo bad. Please help. I love this dog and want things to be normal.

I try to feed them separately but the parent dogs keep eating the puppy food I give their puppies and won't touch their adult food. Is there a type of food that's good for both adult & puppy? Does the puppy food have all the nutritions for the adult dogs as well?

Thanks.

i have a one year old maltese named princess, and she went in heat in feb. well in march she gained alot of weight (3 pounds) and she's all lazy and doesnt want to be her active self, witch is unusual. she has a little alien toy that she carries everywhere with her and she cuddles with it and she also cleans it alot, like it's her baby. its now june and she's somewhat back to normal but hse still carries her "baby" around, she's getting tobe active again and is taking walks and going outside again, but i'm still kinda worried, what happened to her? did she go through a false pregnancy? or could something really be wrong with her?

My back yard has a few holes. Even though we take her for runs at least 3 to six days a week. She never gets tired. The other problem is she likes to stand on her beck paws and scratch the door when she wants something.

Hey there, when we first got our puppy she was already pad trained, and this was great because we are in a third floor apartment. But gradually she begin drifting further off the pad we had in the bathroom, despite all of our treating her for going in the right spot. So we moved her pad onto the patio cause we were tired of stepping in messes in the bathroom. Well she sometimes hits the pad, but mostly she goes right beside it, and only pee, all her poops are done a few feet away. We treat and praise immensly when she goes on the pad, and tend to ignore or say uh oh if she is off the pad. I have tried leading her onto the pad and having her sit while saying go potty and good girl and treating, but she still usually walks up and puts front paws on the pad but her butt is elsewhere when she pees. I ordered this wizdog potty tray thing, hoping if she can get her behind over it , at least it will stop leakage, but I need help getting her trained to get her waste on the pad. Help !?

My dog, a pug, has been choosy with foods. I tried giving him science diet, vitality, and beef pro, I even tried giving him cooked meat and raw meat. He doesn't want any of them. He tries smelling the food then leaves it until I tried pan de sal, a kind of bread from the Philippines, he wants the bread. I'm just worried he won't get good nutrition. I also tried giving him mosegorvita, an appetizer. Still he eats only the bread.

and the dog has been "fixed", that's how the person will respond. WHY?!
For example: If their dog is a female they will say, "She's spayed." But you didn't ask that! You asked if they were male or female, nothing more!

If there is anyone that has had experience with 2 day old puppies, I need some advice. My boston had 3 puppies yesterday and up until tonight, one of the pups is acting funny. He acts as if he can't or doesn't know how to latch on to mom's nipple. He was at first a little slow ate nursing but he did do it this morning. Now I have noticed that he is very limp and has his tongue hanging out. He looks like the runt of the litter. He looks thinner than the other 2. Although, he has been wandering around alot this past few days. I don't know if he is just sleepy or if he is not going to make it. Please help if you can. I am very upset. I keep trying to help him by expressing the mother's nipple so that he will get something, but he just doesn't latch on like the others. What do I do?!!!!
