Well, I don't know what this has to do with dogs. A taser is probably the best and safest way to subdue someone if it HAS to be done, as opposed to the injuries that occur using a baton, mace, a police dog or a gun. The problem is with the officer's judgment and communication skills. My brother is a cop - he arrests people by talking them into handcuffs, not by pounding their heads in. Of course, if the person is on drugs or a complete nutball, there isn't too much a cop can do. Some departments have gone to non-lethal methods like nets and beanbag shotguns, but everything has some risk. Remember, MOST officers are good guys - but those that aren't, those who use excessive force on non-resisting civilians should be prosecuted just like any other criminal.

They absolutely should be allowed. If someone is going to be stupid enough to fight a police officer, then they deserve to be restrained in any way possible. You obviously were never an officer or don't know anyone that is. THey are out there putting their lives on the line and they don't know what is coming at them and when. They have to be on the defensive at all times and protect themselves. If some idiot is going to have a cop arrest them, then obviously they did something wrong in the first place.

By the way, that woman was not innocent. Get your facts right. Also, the dog presented a threat to the officer's safety.

It's called the culling of the herd.

might you particularly that they shot you?! The taser is a super option to weapons. it may subdue an enemy without heavily harming them (most of the time) and it may save the police a lot of pointless subject. If someone became scuffling with with the police, instead of wrestling them to the floor, they could basically subdue them for a minute then handcuff them. they have in all hazard stored many peoples lives. Police have additionally shot human beings for doing particularly no longer something and a lot of of the time they die. i might particularly be tasered than shot. And if taking photos human beings became the only option decrease back then, now the police have the possibility to taser them instead.

We are not there with the Officers. We don't know what proceeded up to the taser, we don't know if the Officer's life was in danger or what. So, yes I believe they should.

only if they have been tasered before, so that they know how it feels. Then maybe they will think twice about it.

They're allowed to shoot people, so what's the big difference? You think everyone who's ever been shot deserved it?
