Try going to the garden shop and get pure diatamatious earth. Sprinkle it all over your carpet lightly and work it into the carpet. Leave in the carpet for three to four weeks as it takes the eggs about that long to hatch....... then vaccume daily for the next week. The diatamatious earth strips off their shells and dries them out leaving them pretty defensless.

You need to throw out the old bag in the vacuum because you sucked up flea eggs that will hatch. Then you need to spray or have the bug man spray the carpets with something that kills fleas and their eggs. Let that sit for 24 hours. Vacuum again and get rid of that bag as well. When you put the fresh bag on, drop a flea collar into it. That will kill any fleas and eggs you vacuum up later.

Also, if you have any pets that go outside, treat them with a flea dip or a trip to the groomers. While they are gone have the yard sprayed VERY well for fleas. You would be better off doing this all at the same time or within a few days of each other.

If you still have the dog, put some flea drops on it (Advantage, Frontline, etc.) Vacuum the carpet. Buy some spray (Zodiac is good) and spray in a sweeping motion. Don't saturate, just a light spray. Vacuum again the next day. Fleas are really hard to get rid of. The once-a-month pills for dogs are good, too, but expensive. Good luck.

Go to http://www.fleabusters.com and it is a powder that will kill every one of those blood suckers! It is guaranteed for 1 year. (probably what the other girl was talking about)...
You want this one: http://www.fleabusters.com/Products/Rx_Plus/index.html

It can take up to 4 weeks to kill all of them, but I saw results within a few days. Follow the directions because it does have to be done right to work.

So if you need to shampoo the rug, do it now because you can't for a long time. It will tell you all that.. And that stuff is SAFE.. Foggers not only don't work very well, they are bad for the environment.

Fleabusters will have the product to you fast and they charge a lot less then if you get it from the vet or other places..

I use a carpet powder that supposedly kills for a year. It will take a while to get rid of them. I had them really bad a few years ago. Even called Raid. It might seem you get rid of them, but 6 weeks later they will be back, look for a product that kills at least 2 off their live circles. Egg- Larvae-Cocoon-Flea, and retreat every few weeks. Don't forget to do the same with the pooch. Good luck.

Raid has what they call a bomb or fogger where you set it and leave the house for 4 hours. Just make sure you use the right amount. Too much of the chemicals can cause an explosion.

you can get flea spray (Raid the purple can) or carpet powder that you can vacumn up. the main thing is you have to treat the inside of your house (all fabric), spray your yard (Home Depot), and treat your dog (flea shampoo and frontline or Advantage). just so you know it's flea season so you need to keep it up.
