Cats - January 2007

He likes to sit on our laps, but he bites when we try to pet it. And it doesnt seem like a defensive bite, more of a playful bite, but nonetheless it still hurts. How do we change him?

My cat got sick 1-01-07. It was sudden. He was overweight and didn't get the excercise he should have got. The next day his condition worsened. I thought he had pnemonia. My husband gave him a shot of penicillin and b-12. He got worse to the point he was crying in pain. We took him to the vet. My cat was haven't difficulty breathing also for two days. He was so weak, he couldn't walk. He didn't seem that sick until the last couple of days. He hadn't felt very good, but not of a dying cat. The vet took a needle and pulled fluid from his lungs. He had a grim look on his face. I asked him for the truth. He seemed to know I was dying myself inside. The first thing was , it depends on how much money your willing to pay. I said .I want to know if my baby is dying and is he going to get better. I told him that I would not let him suffer. I love him too much. He then replied, he was not going to get better and there would be tubes and needles the rest of his life. We let him go for love. Help

I'm a disabled person and I'm going to have to travel by train from Florida to Chicago. Amtrak will not allow me to carry my cats. What can I do to get my cats to Chicago? This is just tearing me up I love them so much.

I have 2 4 month old male kittens, and none of the local vets will do neutering until they are 6 months old. Is there any risk in them developing negative male cat behaviors (spraying, sexual aggression, excessive territorialism) before the 6 month mark?

I have been using Feline Pine with my kitten. I liked the idea that it was biodegrable and didn't cause the nasty litter dust that is said to cause respiratory problems in cats. The Feline Pine clumps nicely and is easy to scoop, but it really doesn't eliminate the smell. Has anyone found any biodegrable kitty litters that have worked for them? Any kitty litters period that eliminate smell well?

My cat feels this insane need to lick my suede shoes and chew my shoelaces. Can anyone recommend a shoe storage solution that (a) isn't a total eyesore, and (b) that my cat won't be able to open? [Note, this is a cat that has figured out how to turn doorknobs and open heavy sliding-door closets]

My cat is 9 months old. He only goes #1 in the bathtub drain, basement drain, and in the toilet! He goes #2 in the litter box just fine. The only issue I have with this, is if he does it when no one is home the rinse it down it really smells the house up.

I clean out the litter box every day just in case that was the problem, but it isnt.

Does any one else have a cat that does this? If I cant stop him from doing it, is there something I can put in the drains that would hinder it from smelling if no one is there to "flush"?

Anyone ever have a cat who literally breathes loudly? Sounds like she is stuffed up.
We use premium litter (Freshstep, $$) and feed her Purina food... any ideas on how to treat this nose whistly/stuffiness without going to the vet? Note* she is perfectly active and otherwise healthy, except this stuffy sound

I can't find the mother anywere cat looks about a couple of weeks old black kitten blue eyes she was ontop of a tree and i have know idea what to do she ate a little and she stops meowing when shes hiding behind something...when you pick her up she takes her nails out she seems really scared what do i do?? where do i start?

I had posted earlier about not being able to find quality cat foods in my location, but did find a bird feed store today that carries Innova. I bought a bag of Innova EVO Cat and Kitten to try on my 2 4 month old kittens. The price/4 lbs actually seems to be comparable to Science Diet, and only about 0.50/lb more than Purina One. Is this considered a decent quality cat food? Should I be concerned that its' cat and kitten food seems to be one formula?

I've realized why my stupid cat is nipping and biting me, he's developed a taste for the salts in my perspiration. Which is why he likes to lick my fingers and arms. And why I find him in the laundry hamper all of the time licking my workout sweats.

He's not licking me coz he loves me, he's only licking me to get the salt that he craves.

I have a little male cat that is cute as can be but his claws are long, Ive cut them down but they grow back so quick that it didn't even make a difference. He likes to stretch by putting his front claws in the sofa and its slowly making the sofa look bad, we try to clap real loud at him and he gets down but then he will do it again within minutes.

He just got home from a 10 day stay in a cattery and is not being himself. He is eating a lot, meowing a lot ( not distressed but when you stroke him he stops) and is farting something terrible. Should I be stressing? I plan on taking him to the vet in th emorning but if this is serious must i take him now?

What does it mean when a cat meows continuously and loud? It's been a week since my brother's cat stayed here with my cat. And Marshall, the older of my brother's cat, is staying hiding behind the dresser, and almost came out three times. But today he made loud continuous meows? Does it mean he's sick, lonely, or something else? Any thoughts on this would help.
