My cat feels this insane need to lick my suede shoes and chew my shoelaces. Can anyone recommend a shoe storage solution that (a) isn't a total eyesore, and (b) that my cat won't be able to open? [Note, this is a cat that has figured out how to turn doorknobs and open heavy sliding-door closets]

Why don't you go to a craft store or a pet store (bird isle is good for this) and purchase some leather / suede strips or shoe laces and hang them for the cat to play with. Evidently, your cat like leather.

Damn that is one smart cat! Open round handles AND push open doors to a closet? Mine will push down on the handles we have and open doors, but they've yet to be able to open the closet doors. But then again, our doors are a very solid wood - which might be something to look at and see if your closet doors are solid wood or just hollow. A solid door would be much heavier and therefore harder to push open unless you leave a crack for him to work at.

Other than that - high shelves works best. Get a shoe organizer that puts them up on shelves about 5 to 6-feet up and this will stop the little stinker.

I easily have a closet merely interior the front door. I easily have a 16 compartment putting rack on the contained in the closet door. I have the "no shoes" rule. it truly is made from plastic and one shoe matches in each compartment. With my twins, both shoes fit in a unmarried compartment. wish this allows.
