My cat is 9 months old. He only goes #1 in the bathtub drain, basement drain, and in the toilet! He goes #2 in the litter box just fine. The only issue I have with this, is if he does it when no one is home the rinse it down it really smells the house up.

I clean out the litter box every day just in case that was the problem, but it isnt.

Does any one else have a cat that does this? If I cant stop him from doing it, is there something I can put in the drains that would hinder it from smelling if no one is there to "flush"?

My cat does this too.
Will pee in the bath or toilet and if both doors are shut will use laundry sink. Only ever does number two's outside.
It doesn't bother me though, Clean the bath regularly and it shouldn't smell that bad. Mine has pretty good aim and doesn't miss the drain so it doesn't normally smell to bad.
(Is yours a ginger tom?)

From my experiences there are a few things that the vet will ask you about the daily routines.. How many cats? How many litter boxes? Has there been a change in food or type of litter? Is this your only cat or do you have others? My cat was being so good in regards to the litter box but then things changed.. the carpet was being solied, he would get into the laundry baskets and soil in there, he even soiled in my purse!!.. total nightmare. Between our 2 cats we now have 5 litter pans throughout the house that are scooped twice a day. He was also loosing weight, eating and drinking more, and peeing like crazy. We now have a diabetic cat- that is what the problem was. It would be a good idea to get the cat checked out :)

Why stop it? You should praise the cat for being so good! Most of us spend a small fortune on cat litter and would rather our cats just peeded down the drain or into the toilet! I tried to actually get a traiing box once that fit over the toilet seat and make my cat use it - she refused completely!

Be grateful and just buy a few Glade products and keep them near your sinks until you can get home and wash the stuff away!

some cats do this when the box is dirty but this doesnt sound like the prob. my cat did this when he had a urinary tract infection and couldnt make it too the box in time. some cats just like it. here's what to do.

Close the toilet lid.
Close the bathroom door.
if the door doesnt stay shut then add about an inch of water in the tub with a stopper for a week or 2. the cat will have an unpleasent surprise when he hops into the tub or sink and will eventually stop doing it. reward him eveytime you see him in the box. also, if you catch him going in the wrong place. squirt him with a water gun or spray bottle, faucet. tell him no, pick him up and put him in the box.

I would take him to the vet. Catd who avoid their litter boxes usually have an infection and equate using the litter box with pain.
Hope every thing is ok.
As for the smell Nature's Miracle is a great product for eliminating cat urine smells. You can find it your local pet store.

That's very interesting! Ive never heard of that... but how about shutting the bathroom door when you leave? or leaving it shut all the time, except when entering and leaving it? Basement drain.. maybe spray lemon juice or a strong vinegar on it... cat's hate the smell and will avoid it... toilet eh??? thats straight out of "meet the parents" .. peeing in the toilet isn't a bad thing, I wish mine went in the toilet! lol but again, shutting the bathroom door would fix that.

I've never heard or seen a cat do that before. Our oldest cat will pee in our dog dish but only if the liter box isn't clean. Our oldest cat would pee everywhere and my husband and I couldn't figure out why he did this since he knew enough to go to liter box. He'd pee in our dog's dish and on the bathroom rug. My husband started to get on to him but I told him he might have a bad infection so we took him to the Vet and found out that he had a minor bladder infection and got him some medicine to help. He didn't like it but we made him take it and he got better.

The problem with your male cat is that hes marking his property.
Male cats that are not nuetered mark there property with their pee.
What you have to do for this not to happen is to tak eit to a vet and neuter him and he'll stop doing that =]
