My male cat Sparky has taken an inappropriate amorous interest in my Chia Pet Gigli lately and has taken to mounting the poor girl and humping for hours. The problem is that I think Gigli secretly enjoys the attention as I have caught her smiling sedatedly at times. How do I break this off?

my mother-in-law had gotten a puppy the same time and from the same place where we got my kitten. the puppy went in yesterday for routine shots and a stool testing and found that he had hookworm. now when my kitten went in for the same they found he had coccia and was treated. Im worried my kitten has worms just because he eats all day long like its nothing...is it possible for a kitten to catch a worm from a dog?

i have a almost 4 month old kitten...my question is about his eating habits. I give him mostly dry food, i fill his rather large bowl up to the top every morning, and then give him a small portion of moist food in the evening which he inhales on site. I've always given all my cats an unlimited food option (being they have food out all day) and never really had a problem. This little guy seems to eat ALL DAY! i know he's still young and needs all the nutrition, but that giant bowl of food is licked dry by morning and he's begging as if he hasnt eaten in a week. Should i be feeding him differently? more options of food? different kind of food? ohh, and he doesnt seem to like "treats" that much, he just blows them off and will eat them very last if nothing is left in his bowl. Thanks!

I have two cats who have lived with each other for almost 2yrs now and the older cat, who was here first is very territorial of the litter box and wont let my other cat poop in it. I've tried two litter boxes and my older cat will then use both of them.

I have just bought a male kitten. Hes 9 weeks old and seems to have endless energy. Hes really sweet and social, but hes a bit hyperactive (maybe a lot). Every mornin he jumps on our bed at 6am and starts atacking us and our feet and licking our faces and playing with my hair. He runs around all the time. He atacks our feet as we walk around the apartment. He also wont eat dry food (royal canin) unless its mixed with canned food. How do I get him to stop atacks and to eat normal food?

Hi, my cat has a small spot of hair on his back about 2 inches or so from his tail that feels stiff. I couldn't find any marks or anything like he had been in a fight. I've tried washing it and brushing it but it still stays the same way. Does anyone have any idea what might cause it or should i just not worry about it?
thank you for any advice or idea's.

Did they invent purring when people started to domesticate them? Or did they purr for other reasons?!

I wrote about the cat, Tom, that I "INHERETED" after my brother passed away suddenly many months ago(late March} He has been doing better, but has had many health issues, which I am addressing as best I can.I try to give him alot of affection and have found that he has "a great motor" And he feels comfortable enough to yell in my face when he is unhappy about food or when I have worked too long!!! Just an update-thanks for your support!

I've had my cat since she was tiny (she's 4 now) and there's always been a problem with an incredibly strong ammonia smell in her litter box. It's so bad, my eyes water and my nose burns every time I change it. I've tried every combination of food and litter, she has lots of fresh water all day long and a clean bill of health, but it hasn't let up. Help!

Tucker is my kitten, he was born on May 21, and I got him when he was 7weeks 6 days old--I was told he had been completely weaned from the mother already. Up until this week he has been perfect!!! His new habit though isn't so nice, and maybe it isn't healthy. He has begun to 'nurse' on peoples clothing, on pillows, on blankets, just about anything soft. Why has he started to do this now? Also, everytime he does this we give him some food as a distraction, and that seems to please him. Is he just trying to tell us that he is hungry (but sometimes he does it when there is a plate of food right next to him)

He has a vet appointment on Saturday, but I was just wondering what to expect.

Thanks, Laura and Tucker

I have had my Cat for 10 years. Ever since she was a kitten. I love her to death and she is spoiled beyond belief. I was given an 11 week old kitten tonight who is absolutely adorable and decided why not give it a shot. My cat hissed at her, is now angry and barely is letting me touch her. But no fear, the little one hissed back and got nervous and climbed in her pet carrier. I know shes up set but should I give the kitten back and consider this a lost cause or should I try to make them get along and keep the new kitten? My cat is very important to me and I don't want her upset or to cause unneeded stress on her. But this new kitten is way adorable, and I don't want to make her over nervous or anything. Any help is beyond appreciated!

My little Angel learned to flush (and I did not teach her, bless her, she picked it up while watching I can only surmise)-This amazing babe of mine does high 5, high 10, can count to 12 with her tail (swishes, as I count, she gives a swish-if I say 8, she goes around my legs, with her little slinky swish "eight times", and sure, at times she gets it wrong, but I STILL give her highest praise, stroke her fur, and cuddles and verbal praise.) She also does the "fetch the fake mousies"-Now I've trained her to "HERE", and she comes to me and sits practically on my foot-Then I show her the little fake mousies and tell her in louder than normal tone "NO FETCH"-If she starts to take off,she sits back down, and I PRAISE& PRAISE-And I tell her w/in approx.1-5mts to "FETCH MOUSIE", she leaps and bounds, drops mouse @my feet. Also from floor jumps to my shoulders on command (YES, she is declawed in front)-Any suggestions for more cool ideas-Serious answers ONLY-no losers w/mean answers pleze!!!

My cat is showing symptoms of these three viruses/diseases.

However, I am perplexed about how they might have acquired it.

Can a cat acquire these viruses/diseases by being exposed to dirt or bacteria, ie. by licking contanimted surfaces such as toilet bowls, countertops, etc.?

Or is cat-to-cat transmission the only way a cat can acquire these viruses/diseases, ie. from another cat?

I have two cats, but they are both indoor pets (have never been outside at all unless they were in cages/carriers), and the other cat seems to be acting somewhat normal.
