I just got a new cat today. He has strange looking bugs that I am able to see with my bare eye walking around on him. They are reddish with black legs and hang mostly around his muzzle area. I have a flea collar on him but I don't think these are fleas. How should I get rid of them? What are they? Will they start biting me???

this is not for sport, they scare off all the rabbits that i eat and this pisses me off. I have 3.4 acres and some of these may be feral cats, i will tell the owners to get it if it has a collar and will NOT shoot it, i have a large fence and try to take precautions but this is getting out of hand. animal control refuses to run around my woods all day and trap them, they didn't know the legal ramifications of shooting them though. again, i will not shoot those with collars and warn all of my neibhors (who know were they cats go...my plot is the only around here). again this isn't for sport, i am not some deranged cat killer they are trespassing, scaring off my small game and may have diseases, is their anything i can do before i start to take action in this matter?

Additional question, how do people care for cats who live in cities, do you worry about traffic and nasty dogs etc?

How do you communicate with it?

Do you talk to it as if it were a normal person or do you talk to it in Crazy Baby Speech?

I talk to my cat, usually as if he were a person, though when he's playful or when I'm buggin him before I pick him up, I slip into crazy baby talk.

Even though I know he's a very clever cat and I love him dearly, I do say that he's stupid (coz he is very very clumsy).
Like,... "are you crazy or stupid, you don't bite the mommy!!"
Stuff like that, I know he doesn't know what stupid is - he just knows that I love him and what ever gibberish I say is just gibberish and also he knows his name is about it.

I noticed about two days ago that my female cat has been constantly shaking her head. I finallly tried to figure out why she was doing it and when I touched her right ear she shook her head again. I don't know what's causing her to do this. she's never done this before. coincidently, 2 days ago is when she suddenly started laying at the foot of my bed right under the ceiling fan. she seems very sensative when I touch her right ear. I'm starting to become very worried and really want to know what this is. I've been thinking about taking her to the vet. do you think that it's a bug or something stuck in that ear? she's strictly an inside cat and never goes outdoors for any reason. I want to know why she keeps doing this. I can tell that it really bother her. besides this problem she is a very happy, healthy, and loving cat. any suggestions from anybody will be greatly appreciated. no jokes or sarcasm or BS statements because I WILL report you!!!! Thanks!

We want it to be very unique, maybe something greek myth like... Its black with brown and orange spots. There not really spots, it looks like the colors were painted on, "brushed" on if you will. Thanks!

A friend of mine has a great cat whose ears were normal but awhile ago each became swollen and now have shrivelled up a little (and bent on top). What is the cause of this? Some friends have said bugs bites or too much roughhousing with the cat. Can this be fatal? Has anyone else seen any animals like this? Is it bad for the cat?

Last night I noticed that my cat's tail has a large knot in it. Right where the knot is, her tail falls limp. Instead of flicking back and forth like normal, it just kind of lies there. When she walks, the end of her tail just kind of sags. Is it possible that she's broken her tail? If so, is there anything her vet can do to fix it?

I know I've heard you shouldn't handle newborn kittens b/c the mother will abadnon them but our mommy cat keeps jumping out of the box to come see us and keeps wanting me to reach in the box where they are and pet her. I really am trying so hard to control myself and not touch them, but they're so little and I really wanna hold them. Any advice would be appreciated!
