yes and they can get pretty freaky too. you need to limit the amount to about a half a teaspoon in order to keep kitty from going into kod(kitty over-dose)

"They are not supposed to eat it". Actually cats can eat catnip it helps their digestion.
I grow fresh catnip for my cats and every few days they get a few leafs off it. My cats have never become hyper on it but they do roll around and act funny. One of my cats ate the whole pile when the rest didn't want any and he kinda crashed on the floor a bit not that he showed any signs of being sick. So I dono if they can actually over dose but you should do it in moderation especially if your cats do get hyper.

No they can not. They will quit when they have had enough fun!!!! They are not supposed to eat it. When you use catnip it is usually contained in some material.

actually, yes

the sense of excitement in cats produced by catnip can cause an overdose of adrenaline, which is dangerous for felines.

using it in moderation is fine, but dont overdo it

I always wait until my cat puts on a gold zodiac necklace, puts on a shirt open to his belly, and starts hanging out in bars. That's when I know he's had enough. (After all, he's neutered---he's just going to embarrass himself.)
