Sit down on a comfortable chair. Hold her under your arm like cradling a football for an end run. Have her head facing to the back and her butt towards you. Try to position her claws so she can't gouge you. Lift up her tail with the hand that you're holding her with, and insert the thermometer with your other hand. You should have it already greased up with vaseline. Put no more than an inch of it inside her (think of her as a furry baby). Hold her in place for at least 3 minutes, then withdraw the thermometer and let her go.

If you feel the need to take her temp, make sure it's lubed up, make sure you put it in the right hole (the one closest to the tail) I can't believe how many ppl put thermometers in the vulva on female animals... Get her her very own rectal thermometer, they sell em for $10 and less and take only 10 seconds, LOTS better than 3 minutes. Distract her with her favorite food, or with a friend to help hold her.

This is more of a two person job, don’t' use your personal thermometer (yucky), buy one for this reason only. Tie a string to it (if it’s a glass one) one person should gently hold her (so as to not let either one get scratched or bitten if she doesn’t like it) and the other goes and takes her temp. If she's really well tempered, you may be able to do it alone. Give her lots of scratches adn cuddles after so she knows she did good too. Rewards pay of! :)

No, it isn't mandatory that you'll take the cat to the vet because this is pregnant. wonderful how all those pregnant cats gave delivery formerly there have been veterinarians, eh? because it sounds like you care about the cat, the great element you could do is proceed to substantiate there's a waiting grant of foodstuff and water and a danger-free, secluded position to delivery. there's a ton of advice on line on a thanks to prepare a community, it can be so ordinary as a spacious field with one commencing the wall is 6 inches severe, in a dismal, quiet position. this kind mom can get in and out and the kittens do not get out till they're sufficiently huge and robust sufficient. once you've a structure the position you could leave an commencing sufficiently huge for her to flow in and out, or in case you want to maintain her on your position, this will be brilliant for the kittens. there are countless predators in the journey that they are left outdoors. Gestation is 9 weeks. She nevertheless probably has a month to flow. even as she's close to the date, you'd be in a position to ensure the toddlers flow purely through searching at her abdomen, as well as sense them shifting. in case you make investments in taking her to the vet, spend it getting her fixed, and keep her interior till she's contained in the motorized vehicle on a thanks to the vet. in case you do not, I assure you she'll probably be pregnant back interior of four months. And all those cute little kittens develop up and make extra toddlers. Getting her fixed is brilliant contained in the destiny for diverse motives: a million) She received't ought to flow through the hormonal roller coaster, and neither will you. 2) Her personality will stabilize. 3) this is extra constructive for her well being if she is fixed formerly having any toddlers. 4) there is such an over inhabitants of undesirable animals. 5) i have been to the animal administration construction. there have been over 80 cats of each age, maximum healthful searching and many were kittens decrease than 3 weeks previous. They were to be killed that afternoon to make room for the incoming.
