My kitten is about 4 months old and I believe still has his baby teeth. Anyways, he lost half of his left canine a while ago, not sure what happen but the pointy part jsut broke off about a one mm length. Anyways, today, the rest of the tooth is cracked in half and in two pieces and one of the piece is very loose from the gum. If this happen in a human, I'm sure I would be in a hell of a lot of pain. I put some Orajel on him, yes it's human medicine. He doesn't seem to be in a lot of pain or anything but do you think I should just pull out the VERY loose part of the canine? And uf yes, how, just pull it out or have him bite something, any advise. Again he doesn't seem to be in any pain but cats are very good at just ignoring pain.

A friend of mine has a cat that had kittens 8 wks ago. She has a roomate that has been treating the kittens like orphans and shutting the mother out. It is my understanding that @ 8 wks. these 4 kittens should be weened. However the roomate refuses to stop giving them a bottle (that they never had to have to begin with). I have fed the kittens hard food and soft food, it is clear the only reason they cry when she is around is for attention. All she does is rotate the bottle all day and all nite long. My friend doesn't wish to hurt her feelings so she alows this to go on. I am more concerned with the quality of life for the kittens. Before I confront her I would like to obtain documented proof that this "feeding" thing has to stop! Can anyone refer me to a website link that provides the information on this subject? After all I could be wrong.

I have a big male tabby that loves to play in thunderstorms, picks up his food with his paw and eats it and licks the rain off my car windshield. What does your cat do?

OK, here's the story - the cat is 19 years old (!). he was always active & very trim, and ate like a pig. not big on human food, except dairy (yogurt, mayo, oil). he always eats dry food, despite his teeth being 19 years old. he usually licks the gravy out of wet food & MAYBE eats some of the meat, if he's super hungry. but he does like IAMS canned food & usually eats all of that up.
about 6 weeks ago, the vet said he had an overactive thyroid, and that's why he was so thin. the predicted outcome was that he would put on some weight and stop urinating in such large quantities. with meds, the urinating has decreased, but he lost half a pound! he doesn't drink as much & hasn't been eating wet food - barely even licking the gravy out. i've tried all different kinds of food - cat & human- that he usually loves, but no go. when i go to the kitchen, he comes in hoping for food. but no matter what i give him, he takes a lick or two, and that's it. HELP!!!

Obviously we'll make sure we are still making a fuss of our dog at the same time, but its leaving them together for the first time thats worrying me? any advice?

My cat likes to lick empty plastic grocery bags. (Even if they've never had any food in them.) Is this a symptom of something wrong, or just a 'cat behavior' kind of thing?

He needs his claws because he loves to hunt. He's presently cut off from the living room that contains the sofas, but I want to let him in there eventually..

If I'm going to let my outdoor cat come into my apartment and still have access to the outside, he MUST come through the bedroom.

I tried letting hiim last night, but he would not let me alone while I tried to sleep. Is there any way to teach him not to do this?

I heard somewhere that white cats are the most aggressive/skittish, followed by black cats and calicos. And that orange/tiger cats are the most docile and easy-going.
Is this true?? I have an orange cat and she is very good natured and laid back. But maybe that's just the way I raised her....

I just got a new Shih-Tzu puppy yesterday and my teenage cat is acting a little funny. My puppy is 8 weeks old and very scared! When we first came home my cat really didn’t seem to notice the puppy but then he got the sniffing and his tale just go all puffy and stuck straight up in the air! We sat down with both animals and let them both look at each other (while holding both animals) my cat just looked and begin to hiss a little but in the same since he seemed kinda frighten by the puppy. I really don’t understand his behavior, I don’t know if he going to attack the little puppy or just keep his distance! I understand that I am bringing another animal into his territory but my puppy isn’t going anywhere! Will they get along eventually? Will my cat learn to love the puppy?
Is there anything I can do to make this process of introducing them to one another a little bit easier for them?

Don't worry they're no-kill here! But she caught 3 of 5, and the other two are getting smart... any suggestions on how to catch the others? We don't want to leave them alone... mom appears to be missing. They don't show interest in the toys we've offered... and Of course they love the food.... but they just wait for us to fall asleep ( I fell asleep on my porch) and then come right up next to us and snag the food. So to make it clear, Any suggestions on catching the last two?

My 2 male kittens r about 9 wks old. Both my boyf & I work f/time, but I'm able 2 come home @ lunchtimes 2 spend time with them, as well as mornings & evenings. The last 3 days or so they've started climbing my legs. While it's cute, I'm also left with tons of painful scratches.
They're shut up in the kitchen for their own safety until we sort the house out, so when I see them I always sit down, pet & let them crawl & play over me, & they always purr like mad & then fight around me. But when I'm standing they just won't leave my legs alone. One of them can actually climb up to my shoulders when I'm standing, the other one can't get past my hips (but digs his claws in trying!) When my legs r bare they try & be gentle, but end up trying to climb me anyway.
R they just using me as a way of getting a good view of the room, or r they testing their climbing abilities? A cat tree is arriving soon, so will this stop them from using me? Is it a sign of affection as I'm their mother?

My female cat Tammy has been sleeping with me for years. Since I've suffered a recent romantic breakup, I've noticed that she is more attentive and has started to be seductive. I'm wondering if she wants more than a platonic relationship with me? I hesitate to make the first move, since I can't stand more rejection. Do you think she is interested in me in this way?
