The average age of sexual maturity in a female is around six months, but cats of oriental origin such as Siamese and Burmese can be as early as fourteen or sixteen weeks.
If you're wondering if the female is in heat. She'll display some brazen behavior, rolling and dragging herself around the floor, flicking her tail and raising her rump to expose the slighly reddened area beneathe. She may also lose interest in her food. If her behavior fools you into thinking she is unwell, trying picking her up by her neck folds (as an interested tom would do) and stroke along her back. If she responds with pleasure, pads her feet and raises her tail, she is definitly in season and ready to mate.
Their cycle is 21 days and the female may come into estrus for about 3 to 10 days. And a female cat can remain fertile up to 14 years. Male can continue breeding to the end of their lives.
And brothers and sisters will mate if in the same household. They kind of have that "love the one you're with" attitude.

well the female will go into heat somewhere around 6 months--my vet told me as long as my little male kitten was at least 4 pounds then they could neuter him. I am not sure if the same goes for females as there is more detail to the spaying thing. Double check with your vet to find out. It is best to get your baby boy neutered before he starts to spraying to mark his territory

You better get the male neutered and the female spade.
Females can start going into heat, (their time for male receptivity) as early as 5 months and pretty much stay in heat all year unless they get pregnant or get fixed.
Also, as the male matures, he will likely start having behaviors you don't want like marking his territory with small bits of urine.
For indoor pet cats, it pretty much required to fix them or you wont want to live with them or at least their natural behaviors.

Sometimes as young as your female is right now! Typically around 6 months.
Best get them fixed asap. An altered cat lives a longer, happier life.

They usually don't start mating before they are about 6 months old, but it happens sometimes :) Don't expect them to grow like brothers - even if they are brother and sister they tend to forget about such insignificant details when they are in heat...

Get them fixed they act dumb when they come into heat and they will mate with what ever cat is around as soon as they come in to heat.

I believe females will go into heat at 6 months old.
They will mate, do not doubt that. hehe
My suggestion is getting them fixed. Pets are much happier afterwards. Believe it or not.

I assume you mean mating rather than matting since the former is to bonk and the latter is a rug...maybe you meant carpet munching!
