I read somewhere very recently that cows have regional accents! Animals I would imagine have a fairly common language within species as they have a much more limited way to make noises and a more limited message to get accross, but it might differ slightly from country to country.

Probably not. The dogs in America go bow wow, but the dogs in China go, bao bao, so if two of them met, they wouldn't know what the other was saying...
Actually, animals are pretty much the same everywhere, no matter the country. Animals (e.g., birds) don't know or care what country they're in. They'd understand each other (if they're of the same species), but they'd still have the same "intercultural" problems if they met some other species.
And how do you know human communicate effectively everywhere? You go to Iran or Australia and give the thumbs up gesture and you may get your head blown off (because in those places it means screw you, while in America it means good).
How do you know, by the way, that animals don't have a common language? And what does civilization have to do with language? Civilization means living together in groups (villages, towns, cities)--civilization and language aren't co-extensive.

Animals of all kinds communicate with action and body language. Humans notice body language in animals less then any other living thing on earth! (men more so) So there since of communication is about the same across the board!

pandak! where did u hear that in aus a thumbs up gesture is a sign to get ur head blown off??
Animals communicate in their own language. and an animal taken to a differnt country will still understand its own species
However, we train dogs to obey r commands, no matter what language we use, so a dog that understands 'sit' might look at u in confusion if u say it in german or italian or french.

though animals from different countries have varied vocalizations, animals communicate nonverbaly to eachother. so I am guessing that that is a universal language to them that they would be able to get their point across.
