Hi, my cat has a small spot of hair on his back about 2 inches or so from his tail that feels stiff. I couldn't find any marks or anything like he had been in a fight. I've tried washing it and brushing it but it still stays the same way. Does anyone have any idea what might cause it or should i just not worry about it?
thank you for any advice or idea's.

OMG i was just stroking my cat before I read this and telling her she needed to clean that area better (after saying it I did wonder if it was the one area she couldnt reach to clean, its directly above her tail, about two inches of stiff hair) after that I wondered about having a conversation with my cat about her hygiene!!! lol
She doesnt seem to be bothered with it (not like a dog with a heat rash) so im not worrying too much. Im thinking of giving her a bath , it will be the first time for her, and seeing if that gets rid of it. Looking forward to other posts as im a new cat owner adn need all the info I can get

Hi Francis...this sounds like a different texture of hair like a cowlick. So long as it isn't hurting him when he grooms himself or it isn't sore around the area it should be fine. Some cats are born with areas of hair that's more curly than straight as well as different textures of how the hairs feel to the touch.

If you are really worried about it see a vet but if you are not terribly worried I would just cut the air a little shorter so that it looked the same as the hair around it
