My 8 1/2 yr old female has lost 8 lbs over 2 mos. Vet has tested for everything and she goes for ultrasound this week. She has recently stopped drinking. I am currently forcing water with syringe. She actually clamps her mouth shut and water runs down her onto floor. She gets some fluid with moist food but won't eat if I add water to the food. She's never liked moist food before this and still eats her dry. I am trying other food with more gravy content. Anyone have ideas? She used to drink only from running faucet or by tipping the water bowl. No other signs of illness other than weight loss.

The cat isn't peeing on the carpet, it's a different smell altogether.

Letting your cat out of the house to run around free is neglect? it's not safe for them to be out there alone. and very rude to neighbors who have to have them using their yard and garden as a bathroom and cause unneeded stress and tourcher on the person that accidently hits them with their car.

not to mention your cat getting poisoned, in a fight injured. it's not a safe world out there for them to be in.

how can anyone do that to a cat? isn't that abuse and neglect??

why does my kitten like to bite, she did leave her mom fairly early. Some of the bites are from anger. How can I stop her before she gets older and hurts someone. For example, I was holding her and she was purring and out of no where she bit my lip. Playing with her, she will bite and scratch at you. Any suggestions?

We got him from the Humane Society and his previous owners didn't feed him very well. So, he's really quite tiny, with long gray hair. He's the absolute cutest.

We were thinking of naming him Kramer. Good/bad/other ideas?

I was wondering if the cheaper brand food works the same as the expensive kind of food??

What are the side effects if I choose the cheaper kind?? Do they cause cancer or they become sick??

He always tries to go potty beside the toilet. Why would he do this? Do you think if I put his litter box there...would he use it? When I catch him in time I put him in it and he does use it without trying to get out.

My partner has two cats that constantly catch mice. they usualy don't kill them, just injure them and leave them to die. We feel very bad about it and even taken one to the vet but it was too late for him.

Is there any way to make them stop this behavior?
Will playing with them more with fake mice and string replace their need for the hunt, or will it just train them to be better killers?

I'm looking for a solution that means the cats are ok and the mice are ok (besides keeping the cats locked in - which restricts the cats) .

Please don't post with "let cats be cats" or "it's only natural".

Just last night I was able to feel my cats ribs, and her tail seems thinner. Also she doesn't eat that much, always sleeping, only active at night now which is odd. Her eyes are surrounded with whitish gooy looking circles like what us humans have but thick and gross looking, mostly covering half her eye when she opens them. I need advice as soon as possible before I find possible bad news from the vet. Just curious, we have bought different brand of cat food, but also I noticed she was looking skinnier after we brought in a kitten we found outside. What could be possible causes? Thanks in advance!

He wants to play with them and they hiss at him.Should I put them in a room together for a while, or just wait until he gets older and see how it goes. They don't actually try to attack him, they just leave. He gets on better with the dogs! Maybe because he seems to have no sense of personal space - like dogs - whereas cats do.

I have a kitten that appears to be about 4 monthes old. She started hanging around my house and wouldn't leave so we decided to let her stay.
Well, she doesn't groom herself well, maybe because she's a kitten? And she sneezes on me all of the time?
If anyone has had a similar situation with their cat and could make some suggestions as far as what to do for her I would appreciate it. I can't really afford a vet so "take her to the vet" isn't an option.
Thanks for all answers. :)
