He wants to play with them and they hiss at him.Should I put them in a room together for a while, or just wait until he gets older and see how it goes. They don't actually try to attack him, they just leave. He gets on better with the dogs! Maybe because he seems to have no sense of personal space - like dogs - whereas cats do.

it will take about 3 months for all the animals to get along, i also got a new kitty a few months ago, and my dog hated her, now they love each other to pieces... it will be the same thing with the cats, just give them time and just as much love

No, don't wait any longer. The time for introductions is now or never. Are the big cats all neutered and spayed? I assume so. You need to place the kitten in a safe and enclosed environment, a pet carrying basket or a hospital cage. Carry him around to each of your big cats. Put the cage/carrier down and let the big cats sniff and check him out. Don't worry if they hiss. Eventually they will need to sniff the anus too. As long as the kitten is protected, keep up this routine until the hissing stops.
I usually hold the new kitten gently but firmly in my hands and take it to be introduced to one cat a day (I have 10 cats!) It is stressful for the kitten too, so you can't over-expose him. I let the big guy sniff for a few minutes. If there is any sign of aggression, I pull the kitten away. But I know my cats won't attack, like yours they'd run away. However some do, so I don't want you to take that risk until you are confident you can, due to your safety and the kitten's safety too.
If a cat and a kitten aren't properly introduced, often there is trouble later. Most adult cats won't hurt a kitten, but when he gets older some serious fighting might ensue.
If the introductions are already made, and they hiss and run away, then leave it. They will work it out for themselves.

A month is early days yet. If the new kitten is male, and the resident cats are both male, they see him as competition. Remember that cats are territorial; they see him as the invader. (Like lions, battling for supremacy of the pride). Give them time, and make sure the older cats have a place they can get away from the new "interloper" if at all possible. They need to feel he is submissive to them. A fight or two won't probably lead to serious harm, just the drawing of demarcation lines. Give them some time and don't worry.

Hi all cats do this when a kitten comes into the family, one of my cats hid for ages in the kitchen and whenever i took the kitten to see her she would his and spit at it. It takes a lot longer than a month the cat will eventually come round to the kitten and learn to tollerate it. I have 5 cats and all different ages and i have two kittens they all sort of get on now, they have the odd scrap but most of the time they get on. Just wait a few more months and just let your kitten run round the house by itself and if the cat comes in an sees it just ignore it and carry on, This way it will know the kittenis here to stay.

I took a stray cat in 3 years ago and my other two still haven't accepted him. Unfortunately cats are very territorial. One is scared of him and the other has the occasional hissing fight but they put up with him. Just give the kitten lots of love and attention. You never know one of the cats might take to him some day. I have seen it with my mums cats.

Well cats it takes a little longer for them to get a long. Since the cats are older they will need to get used to the kitten. Just play with all of them and not just the kitten. If you are just playing with the kitten then the other cats will get jealous and will ignore you and the kitten.

There is a good article at www.littlebigcat.com about introducing a new kitten - I mean it is too late for initial introducing, but you may drop down the level of dislike if you go back to that beginning. And encourage your resident cats when they are close to the smell of the kitten...

They might not ever get along. Cats are just that way. It could no longer than a month though. as long as the other cats are not attacking him, he is fine. They will eventually learn to "live" with each other

The big cats are being territorial. Unfortunately they might never accept the new cat totally but they can all live together give or take a few hissy fits now and then.

I agree with the other answers that they may never get along - they will settle however. My cats don't get along but will tolerate each other. They don't generally hiss etc at each other unless one gets too close - they will travel in the same crate but they don't like each other. Just takes time
