What you think is wrong. It's not "just blood". There is an open wound or cut. There is danger here of an infection which a vet will end up treating and costing you money. Get a pair of bandage scissors such as doctors and nurses use. They have blunt ends and cannot puncture the cats' skin.

Trim the hair up a little around the back end. Don't cut too close, those scissors can still cut skin easily.

Cats who are fed by humans don't see mice as food and may not be interested in catching them.

Wow. Unusual cats!

Try using a small toothed comb and wedge it between the clump and the skin, then try as carefully as you can to trim the fur on the clump side of the comb, away from the skin. The comb should give your kitties protection from cuts.

This works best with two people, one to hold the cat, one to trim.

Good luck!

Long hair or short hair cats? If you catch the cat while he/she is sleeping or just waking up, they'll be more likely to let you handle them - wait until then and then use scissors to trim the hair that is attached to the unsightly clumps :) (That works best with long hair cats, though)

take the cats to the groomers and have them groomed regularly. have their hair trimmed short.
This is so unsanitary for them and you.
