Did this just start? Is the cat male or female? Females don't spray, and males are neutered not spayed. If this is a relatively new problem get the cat to the vet -- it could have a urinary tract infection. When they develop the infection they will start peeing in odd places.

Another option, does it smell like the elephant house? Unfortuneately I don't have the answer -- but my 14 year old spayed female will sometimes "spray" a stream of dark urine in odd places. I've noticed she usually does it when the dogs or one of the other cats have her cornered. It doesn't happen all the time, actually it's very rare. I've figured it is just because of her age.

Serious answer:
I would have thought spaying the cat would have stopped that habit. It did for my cat. Consider asking a vet.

Joking answer:
First you get some rocks, a strong cloth bag and some rope. Next locate a nice deep lake... just kidding.

Female cats do not spray to mark territory. (You say the cat is "spayed" which implies she is a female). Take her to the vet...she may have a urinary tract infection. I know from experience that can cause cats to urinate in unusual places.

You can't. Once the habit is learned, chances are, it won't stop. Go to the pet store and buy an enzymatic cleanser / odor remover. I also like OdoBan, bought from Sam's Club. Good Luck!! As nothing is 100%.

Ur cat is in heat. Meaning it want to breed with and other cat. You need to spay or neuter Ur cat. If u want it to stop. Or let it mate with another cat. here is a very helpful link on spaying and neutering..

Have you had the cat to a vet to see if it has a uti? That will often cause cats to pee outside the box.

i m not sure but perhaps your cat is having a medical issue or is stressed about something. did something change? did you get a new pet, change his diet or is he showing signs of illness? my suggestion is to talk to your vet. this is to the girl who said " rub his nose in it" you cannot train any animal that way and it doesn't sound harsh it is harsh. if you have ever read any books on training animals , which obviously she hasn't they will tell you and explain just how wrong and cruel that is. ask your vet he'll tell you that too.

you need to deter him from spraying, although Ive never had a male cat before (ive always had females) I would say Encourage him to use to litter box more. When he does spray something....you need to do what my dad did...he rubbed their nose in it...make them realize what their doing is wrong. I know it sounds harse but something thats the only way to get through to them.
