cheaper brands are not the same.. but not all expensive ones are good (some use price as a gimmick so you think its good)
ok firstly cheap foods use FILLERS, such as by-products (beaks feet feathers) corn wheat and soy
these fillers are not easily digestable so not only are they wasted (pooped out) the cat has to eat ALOT more food to get at the good stuff
cats are TRUE carnivours (not like dogs which are Omnivours)
they require a MEAT protein source...
so when they are forced to eat ALOT of non-meat stuff it is hard on their tummy
some cheap foods still use BHT or BHA as preservatives - these are BOTH linked to many internal problems including, but not limited to, cancer.. also kidney and liver problems and more... some cheap foods use Tocophelerphous (I cant spell), Vitamin E to preserve the food, MOST expensive brands use the better preservative...
ok so you feed a cheap food and the cat has to eat alot more so its tummy is working harder - the food is less digestable and you get more poops.. because the cat has to eat so much more food... in the long run its not cheaper to feed it at all
some foods are expensive becuase they pay for Vet endorsement (science diet is best known for this - its a crappy food and over priced)
some foods have their cost inflated because they pay for so many commercials.. think about it.. if you see commercials for a food where are they spending their money?? on commercials or on nutrition???
better foods are NOT available in grocery stores or wal marts they are only in pet food supply stores but not all foods in pet supply stores are good.. you have to read the lables...
good food you will feed less, have less poops and less health problems... and in the long run you will spend less money on food...

My cats ate Meow Mix until they were seniors. I'm not necessarily recommending it, but they didn't have health problems until way later. One lived to be 22, the other 18.
However, I do recommend holistic foods, such as Wellness and Natural Balance. I believe switching to these foods extended their life span. Eukanuba isn't all it's cracked up to be. It makes their coat look great, but it still has those nasty additives. Science Diet is a total rip! The first ingredient is corn. Not the finest grain, if you ask me. I've tried many foods, more than I can mention here.

it's not good for them causes digestive problems and many other problems because they aren't getting propper nutrition. and a lot of cats are allergic to corn. get qualitiy food like natural choice.
Meow Mix is just about the WORST food you can give your cat.
If you love your cat you will get natural choice.

They might cause diarrhea. I get the one that is in the middle, its not the cheapest and its not the most expensive, so it works good.

One kitty I know ate the cheap kind and is still alive and healthy at 15.
The problem lies in if kitty is finicky and won't eat the cheap kind!

Purina is really good, I watch a vet show and some of the vets said that cats should eat Purina, and dogs should eat Beneful. I hope it helps.
