Just last night I was able to feel my cats ribs, and her tail seems thinner. Also she doesn't eat that much, always sleeping, only active at night now which is odd. Her eyes are surrounded with whitish gooy looking circles like what us humans have but thick and gross looking, mostly covering half her eye when she opens them. I need advice as soon as possible before I find possible bad news from the vet. Just curious, we have bought different brand of cat food, but also I noticed she was looking skinnier after we brought in a kitten we found outside. What could be possible causes? Thanks in advance!

You need to bring both cats into the vet. Outdoor cats are particularly prone to respirtory ailments and bacterial infections - this could have been transmitted to your other cat. Also the new kitten needs a check-up and shots. Take care of it right away - they are fragile creatures.

The stray kitten could have brought in an infection from being outside. Please have your other cat examined by a vet and the kitten should be tested for Flv and FIV. Vet may want to run those tests on the older kitten too.

Sounds like there is a real problem here and I hope you will get to the vet ASAP.

Cats are nocturnal. They are more active at night. Cats are extremely prone to infection, much more so than most other pets. It sounds like the kitten brought in a disease that your cat picked up as well. They both need to see the vet, who will probably write a script which you will need to give to the cats exactly as your vet tells you. Good luck.

Hopefully a respiratory illness that the vet can clear up - but for future reference, NEVER put a stray cat you've brought in near your cat until you've had the new one checked out by a vet. And don't let them eat or drink out of the same dishes. Cats can pass really bad diseases to each other very quickly.

Your cat may be serious ill. Sounds like she is dehydrated.

Good Luck! But, be prepared.
