Cats - June 2006

My cat is just over a year old - female and spayed. She is really aloof. I have never had a cat so uninterested before. She doesn't like to sit on anyone's lap, and if you stroke her more than a couple of times, she bites you, even though she was purring and seeming to enjoy it. She doesn't come when you call her over. She brushes up to your legs when she wants feeding, but that's about it.

Is there anything I can do to encourage her to be a bit more friendly, or is this it?

My fiancee and I will be leaving to study in China soon, and even though she hasn't said anything, I know she will miss our cat dearly, and I know that she will be extremely worried by the idea that our pet would forget us while we were gone. It would just break our hearts if we came back from China and found out that our cat had already moved on and "adopted" my fiancee's parents as her new owners. I tried searching about this question online, but I only brought up results about owners and pets being separated by Hurricane Katrina. Does anyone have any firsthand knowledge about this? If not, could anyone point me to a helpful resource where I could find the answer?

My daddy just brought me a kitten for no apparent reason. Anyways, he's black with white paws, a white belly, and a white neck. He has green eyes and paws really loudly. He found him outside, shaking in the rain (it's been raining here for like two weeks straight) and he thinks somebody most of thrown him out because he was malnurished and there are no houses around here for about a mile. I'd really like help on coming up with an original name. Thanks! <3

I looks like it may be part of her intestines. It's a stringy long chuck of flesh like stuff that is still connected down her throat. She is constantly coughing and gagging. I don't have the money for a vet. I tried to give her some aspirin, but I can't get anything down her throat. Can anyone give me some homeopathic remedies to help her recover. I really can't take her to the vet because I need to save to get my car fixed.

I'm ready to adopt a new kitten maybe two. what are the advantiges and disavatiges in owning 2 cats. I know cats are independant and do not realy need another cat as company, but are cats happier if they have a buddy besides me to play with? and should I get two cats that are related? do they get along better if they are related?

I really love cats, and I want to get one in the future. Problem is, ever since I was little, Iv'e been allergic to cats. I love them so much that I pet and play with them anyways, but afterwards my eyes get itchy, I start sneezing, my throat itches etc. Is there anything I can do to get rid of these allergies ( So that it won't happen ever again while I have the cat )?

I just bought a new chair, and I'd love to keep my cats off it. At night I put the kids toys on the seat of the chair, and my wife's purse on the top. This isn't working. I'm wondering if there's some type of material (sand paper... lol... just kidding) that they wouldn't like to lay on, that I could drape over it. I've heard of the sprays, but do they stink, or stain the material?

Thanks,

JohnL

I love my cat. She is perfect in everyway EXCEPT she has a problem going number 2 in the litterbox once a week! We have tried moving the litterbox, adding a litterbox, changing the litter, and moving her food where she makes her mistakes. I am all out of options, what do I do!!!

she attacts him everytime they come into contact, this has been going on for about 7 months now. They used to cuddle together, play together and then snap one day and she was out to get him everytime he walks by. By the way, he is 15 lbs and she is 4lbs. I can't get rid of her, she's my baby. What can I do?

Took cat to vet 2 weeks ago, raised my concern if my 8 month kitten
is pregnant? Told to wait 2 months and see.

So far for the past 3-4 weeks I noted more affection, seeking
attention, nipples turning from white to pink (now), tummy area
sticks out on both sides due to doubling of her appetite. Also,
her stomach seems sway a little from side to side as she walks.
She seems a littlle more unwilling to jump and play. She used
to sleep with almost all night on my side. Now she doesn't and
prefers to lean against a laundry basket or curtain when evening
temp is between 65 to 70 F. She used to follow me everywhere,
now she roams by herself to a quiet room. Before, she would
always follow me everywhere or sit/sleep next to me. We were
taking care of her smaller brother (3 to 8 months) before the owner
took it to their home after stay abroad. Any thoughts?

We think he gets bored while we're sleeping. We bought him some toys and that worked for a few days but he's back to waking us up to play. Any ideas?
