When a cat twitches the end it's tail back and forth, it means they are making a decision. Like whether to come inside, or make you stand ther like an idiot waiting for them.
When it's a full on swing, they are pissed.

My cat has a few different wags that seem to correspond with his mood. When he's hunting or about to pounce he'll do a fast little wag that is mostly a twitch at the end of the tail. He'll make longer, harder wags - almost like a whip - when he's annoyed. The slow wags are usually for when he's lazily observing something (like birds outside). Watch out for when the tail puffs up and his hair on his back raises because that means he's pretty angry.

I read that kittens wag their tails when they are unhappy, I dont know about cats but all 21 of our cats over the years (not including kittens) have wagged their tails when they are not happy.

I think cats wag their tails because they are courious,or perhaps content with their lives. I have had many cats that do this male or female does not matter. Or maybe they are just showing off . What do u think?

My cat wags his tail either when he's getting ready to attack something or my dog is annoying him. I guess it's a sort of sign of aggression.

it means you're about to get pounced upon. Pray they're in a playful mood.

My cats do it when they're happy or when they're "hunting" a bug or something.
