I want to bring my lovebird with me when I move to Hawaii, is there a quarantine or anything? Does it need a vet check?

I just read an article that was really upsetting. It stated that Alex, an African Grey made famous by Dr. Irene Pepperberg and her research with him, was found dead in his cage Friday. If you have never heard of him I would recommend you look him up. He was just incredible and I think any bird owner learning about him will become more proud of their own pet and encouraged to spend more time with them...which brings me back to my favor...

Could you just spend a little extra time with your birds today? You never know when it will be their last day and you know you would miss them terribly if you woke up tomorrow and they were gone.

I've had a male for quite a while now and it has been plucking the female's feather, does anyone know why he might be doing this. he used to share the cage with another female before she flew away.

We have some very annoying Pee Wees, those small magpie birds, that in the morning, persistantly bang on our windows: sometimes they will start at 6.00am, and go for hours.
Does anybody know a serious way of getting rid of them aside from (killing them ).
Tried the hose, and things that dingle dangle; the only thing that seems to frighten them, is when we refer to them as having the brains of George W Bush, they take off screaming.

My mother found a cardinal baby bird about 1 month and a half ago. He eats seeds and drinks water. Can he be released into the wild yet, or should they just keep him. Will he survive? Thanks.

I read up on all the birds I bought prior to purchase. I own 4 parakeets (one passed yesterday, husband left his window open and I think he froze to death while I was away), a love bird that is under 3 months old, 2 paroletts, 2 sun conures, and a cockatoo. I read up on each bird on the internet through numerous sites as well as bought books to go along with each so I knew better how to care and what to expect from each of the little guys. However I read here on yanswers many ppl that claim to be "vets" saying that pet birds do NOT need gravel-grit- or oyster shell in their diets. Everything I read says they do need it that it aids in digestion and in reducing hyperactivity. What is right all the books or the "vets" on here I give all my birds gravel mixed with oyster shell and have been for yrs without problems. Please clear this up for me thanks...

The temperature outside is about 39 degree C / 102 degree F and probably the bird was wandering for hours. Its surely someone's pet.

Now we have sheltered it for the past 48 hrs, it seems very tired, mostly sleeping for 12-14 hrs since the last 2 days. Drinks a little water and takes a bit of seed now and then and goes back to sleep again.

His eyes and nose are clear, no sign of any infection or fever. Is the bird stressed due to the heat and ordeal ? What more can I do to revive it ?

I am an existing bird owner, having Canary and Lovebirds for the past 7-8 years.
