The temperature outside is about 39 degree C / 102 degree F and probably the bird was wandering for hours. Its surely someone's pet.

Now we have sheltered it for the past 48 hrs, it seems very tired, mostly sleeping for 12-14 hrs since the last 2 days. Drinks a little water and takes a bit of seed now and then and goes back to sleep again.

His eyes and nose are clear, no sign of any infection or fever. Is the bird stressed due to the heat and ordeal ? What more can I do to revive it ?

I am an existing bird owner, having Canary and Lovebirds for the past 7-8 years.

Poor little thing!

It must have been outside for a long time!

Please take care of it as long as it feels better and you can then take it to RSPCA or local vet to see if anybody was looking for it.

If not then please either keep it or find him a loving home, dont leave it with RSPCA as It will spent the rest of his life in a cage. It has already gone through hell.

We need more people like you and your soon!!!!

Keep it cool and encourage it to drink water - not too much at a time, but keep the fluids up. Give with a syringe if necessary. Wake it up in necessary to give the water - you can make up a rehydration mixture using a tiny amount of salt and sugar in the water too. I think that would be safe.

That's about all you can do. Sounds like heatstroke. You're doing the right thing.

he is in shock also he could be dehydrated and he is most likely home sick too ... u must leave it completely on its own in a dark box for at least 2 hours... after two hours check on it and try and feed and water it and then leave it alone again.. make sure it cant get out because ability to escape may harm it...trust me do this for about 8 hours and then see if it has perked up if not then get in contact with a local vet to see if it has been chipped.. put an add in the paper and put up posters .. after 6 weeks if it hasnt been claimed it is legally yours and u can sell it on or keep it..:) good luck and make him as comfortable as poss without fussing round him,

sounds like the heat got to the little bird. Keep food and water in with it and let it sleep. I will probably pull out of it. It could be dehydrated also. You might try an eyedropper and force feed a little more water.

offer it something to eat besides seed.

dark green leafy vegetables (endive), shredded carrots, a little bit of corn...

birds diets in the wild consist of a variety of foods, not just seeds....

i hope the bird thrives... i'm sorry he's in such bad shape. if you kow a bird vet, perhaps give him a call.
