It's a manx shearwater, we think, the vet basically offered me two options - if it's wing is broken, she'll put it to sleep, if it's not broken, set it free after another 24 hours, then if it won't fly, she'll put it to sleep then.... not very interested obviously - she didn't even want to see it.
Any advice on any other options? Can I splint the wing or something? How do I find out if it's broken without distressing the bird? What do I feed it and how? It's got shredded fish and wild bird seed mix, but doesn't seem to be eating at all... HELP?!

I have a male (untested, but everything else adds up to be a male) cockatiel and he screeches a LOT. Not all the time, he'll sing, but he can screetch with the best of them. A lot of the times when he's screeching, I take it as that he wants out of the cage or he's bored. However, every time I go to let him out he freaks out and runs away or does everything he can to avoid me. We have a cat so I cant just leave his cage open. I will admit when we first got him right after he was weened I probably didnt handle him as much as I should have to get him accustomed...any ideas for me at this point?? I feel like I'm in a catch 22 with him.

Everytime I come in the room she stretches, even when she doesn't want to come out of the cage, and she stretches when I take her out of the cage too. She definitley gets enough sleep though. Does she have OCD or something?!? Also, sshe just sits in front of her 3 sided mirror all day, and if she can't see you when you come in, she hides in the mirror.

To make a story short...I came home today to find out that one of my ring neck doves was missing, and as I got closer to the cage I saw that all of her feathers were on the floor and there, next to the cage were two cats litteraly eating her, now those cats do not belong to anybody some of my neighbors feed them but they all say that they do not belong to them, so I can't complain to anybody, sooo, what I was thinking is to get a trap and catch them one by one(there are about 18 cats) and take them to animal control, my husband said that it would be a cruel thing to do because they'll be put to sleep, because they are wild cats and they wont be adoptable, and yes it seems like a cruel think but, what am I going to do?..wait until they eat the rest of my birds?

My love bird will be 3 months old on the 17th of this month. I got him just over 2 weeks ago. I can not no matter what I try get him to eat fresh friuts OR veggies. I have even removed his seed cup and replaced it first thing in the morning when he is hungryest with fresh fruit (apples, pears, grapes and so forth) and he will taste but NOT eat them.Last night however he was sitting on my shoulder while my husband and I were having pizza and a piece of peporoni dropped and he ate a little bit of it (i know i know fattening but it was honestly a very small piece) and he seemed to like it. I have tried putting the fruits/veggies in numerous places in and on and around the cage with no luck. I try every day twice a day.. All my other birds look forward to their fruits/veggies is there anything you can think of that I might not have tried that can get this guy to consume fresh fruits/veggies. NONE of my birds are on a strict seed diet and I dont want him to be either..Thanks!

I know about the towel over the cage to make it think it is night time and it will sleep, but that doesn't always work. Any other tricks?

Cage, seed mix, mineral block, a treat stick or food, a book on them, vitamins, toys and what else?

I do have a credit card in case the bird needs to be vetted. This isn't an impulse purchase. I've wanted one all this year and would rather bring one home now than in the cooler days soon ahead.
