I have a 3 year old cock cockatiel who loves fabrics, he is very protective and will try to kill a dog while defending a towle, blanket, pillow or anything. he almost ate my face once over me touching my knee because I was wearing pants.
what is with this species and things like this?

Sounds like mine. But with him, you have to hold up a sock or a towel or something & he'll start singing to it & calling it a pretty bird. I really don't understand why he does this either but as long as it makes him happy. Of all the birds I've had, they all had to have a thing for bright objects. One had a thing for anything that made a crinkle noise.

I wouldnt really worry, one of mine used to try and get it on with people who had rings on their fingers!!!!!

Maybe your bird thinks its colorful and maybe he is lonley.
