Do a ton of research on which breed you want. Some key points to look at: How long will they live (some have to be willed on to someone else when you die, they live that long)? How loud are they (some are LOUD)? How much individual attention do they need during the day?

"should i gaet a bird????"
We don't know you and what you are like. We don't know if you are a responsible person. How are we supposed to be able to tell you if you should gaet a bird?

Better to ask about sites with good information on the proper care of companion birds. After learning all you can about the type of bird you want, you would ask yourself if you are willing to take on that responsibility and any vet bills that may arise. That will be a better way for you to decide if you should get a bird.

Check out local breeders and figure out what type of bird you want, reseach on line to get ideas of types of birds and visit breeders. Some birds pick the person. They just won't leave you. Good luck.

Get a bird, only if you have time to take care of it properly, and time to spend with it. They need lots of attention. So if you are thinking of getting one, and just sticking it in a cage, feeding and watering it, and cleaning it's cage, forget it. And be prepared to take care of it, for it's lifetime. They get really attached to one owner, and it would not be good to get one, then give it away. So if you don't have that kind of time, don't get a bird.
