First of all, you have to quarantine the new bird before getting it anywhere near your bird! This is a very important step. Many people skip this and say Oh, he seems healthy, looks healthy, I know where he came from and it will be fine, etc. Unfortunately many of these people end up with dead birds. I know that sounds harsh, but better safe than sorry.

Quarantine the new bird, have it vet checked (if you have not already), then once that is all done what I usually do is have them spend "in cage" time, in thier own cages, but putting hte cages closer and closer to each other. I take a lot of time doing this because I believe slower and safer is best. Then give them out of cage time (VERY well supervised) until you know they get along. And once you know they get along, still wait a little while to be sure before you ever let them alone together unsupervised.

put them in the same room in separate cages...

over the course of a few days, move the cages closer and closer, to see if they like each other.

after they have become acquainted, let your original green cheek out and see what he does... if he goes to the other bird's cage..and if he acts aggressive. do this several times..

green cheeks are adorable ! I used to have one.
take care.
