I should have said some Snakes, fish etc - Chocoboroyo understood my question - I meant birds as a whole range of species that don't give birth.

I think a lot of people have misunderstood the question. I think you are saying that, while most snakes, fish and reptiles lay eggs, some species give birth to live young. But are birds the only group of animals that can't give birth to live young.

There are species of reptiles, fish, insects, and amphibians who have live young. And even some mammals lay eggs. Every type of bird lays eggs though.
