5 have taken up residence in our yard and I would like them to stay around for Bug season. What should I feed them on a daily basis? Wild Bird Seed? Cracked corn? Should I go the Co-Op and get some sort of regular chicken food?

I have two peachfaced lovebirds and I don't know what sex they both are in. One of the bird has a dark reddish color on its forehead and the other one has the same mark on the same spot only the mark is lighter. Does this mean that one of the bird is female and one of the bird is male? I am not a bird expert so help me out, please.

I've had my tiel 7-8 months; he used to be very sweet. He loved to sit on fingers, knees, etc. while we rubbed/scratched at his head & neck. He also loves us cleaning off his head/neck feathers when molting.

Near Halloween he discovered my feet. I prop them up, he climbs down & starts whistling to them, singing to them, exploring them, tapping them, etc. I understand this is similar to mating-like behavior. Now, if I get up and walk around the house, he follows me -- he even flies to my shoulder if I go up the stairs, or into the kitchen or other tiled areas. It's great.

BUT, about the same time, he started biting me -- HARD. He often draws blood. He does it most often when he's been near/around my feet. If I offer him my finger to step up (usually to put in cage to poop -- he's mostly trained), he runs at it and bites. If he is on the floor following me, same thing. He just bit my wrist, drawing blood and leaving a welt. I've tried to be patient, but it's been 2 months now. HELP!

I'm interesed in purchasing a bird. My children seem to like birds. How much would my initial investment be for the bird? I know the bird would need food, a cage, and a swing. Is there anything else he would need? Should I get a girl or a boy? Thanks for your help!

For every bite, she would get squeezed, but I don't want to do that anymore, so how do I make her understand that I need to be respected? She bites, then she cries, expecting me to feel sorry for her, and then tries to make me feel bad so that she won't get punished.

We just got a bird, another cockatiel.

He like chewing on ANYTHING. Weather its your hand, cord or a S hook.

1st we called him Birdie. Now that he has his "tastes" should I change the name.

I could keep it Birdie or there is Chew Chew, Bite Bite or Bitie.

What one would you choose. The most popular choice will be the birds new name, along with our vote!

Please help as we cant decide!!!!!

I just got a pair of peach-faced lovebirds, and I was hoping for some insight into what their chirps and such mean. Like the longish call that gets higher as it goes and the short chirps. I was also wondering how to tell which songs they like. They seem to either love or hate Dir en Grey. They start moving around a lot and chirping when I play it..

I have a pigeon and it's starting to pluck his feathers. i don't know what's wrong with it. I give it a new food every month because he's a picky eater and I can't buy another one coz it's cage is tooo small. I'm thinking aboput buying toys for it but I don't know here to buy one so I just placed a branch for it to perch on. I give it a bath every month or so in case he has fleas but he still keeps on plucking his feathers. I asked my relatives ho takes care of birds but they said that it was only molting but I'm not that sure... HELP! I want to let it fly for a moment but it might not come back and join other pigeons...

My bird's beak is slightly dry and the surface of the upper mandible is slightly flaky, but it doesn't actually flake off. It is also very dark with a greenish tinge. There are also just a few brown, narrow, crusty feathers over the cere? What to do? He's about a year old, recent purchase, gets Kaytee Fiesta, water, and plenty of sleep. (He recieves no fruit or veggies at the time, but I am getting a crock to put those in).
