I also own a Quaker and i just posted a question about the bird, he bites and screams and he loves to take the food from his bowl and throw it on the floor, he was given to us and the people said he would talk all he'll do is SCREAM, never said a word in 7years, maybe, and i think he talks when we're gone to get back at us.

Quakers require ALOT of time and attention. If they do not get it they stress out and can begin to mutilate and pluck out their own feathers. I have had one for 5 years now and when I left her to attend a funeral she pulled out half of the feathers on her chest. I was gone for 6 days. They are very social and depend very heavily on their "family" for security. If you do not have the time or interest to raise a permanet 2 year old child then please consider another type of bird. Maybe an ecclectus or something that is more comfortable entertaining themselves. Good Luck!

We have a Quaker. They are great birds. Although ours has chosen my hubby as her mate. She still loves on me but when he is home, she would rather be by him. And sometimes she can get really loud, and it drives my son crazy. I would not recommend a Quaker if you live in an apartment. She is sweet as pie, but woah she can get a bit squaky. OH well its a bird.
quakerparrots.com is a great forum with tons of info.

http://quakerville.net/index.asp is one of my favorite Quaker sites. Quakers are a big bird in a little body. They have big personalities as well, but they are sensitive, also.
