A bald eagle has a white head and tail and comes from america. A white tailed sea eagle has only got a white tail and is a paler brown on the rest of it's body, slightly larger and comes from europe. However, both species live near water, hunt fish and have beaks like a pick axe.

Both species are quite similar since they diverged from a common ancestor, the white-tailed eagle evolved in Eurasia while the bald eagle evolved in North America, location is a key feature in identifying the birds properly. Both species are similar in size with weights for both species ranging between 4-7kg and wingspans between 200-250 cm. Juveniles of both species are almost the same, in adult birds however the bald eagle's white head versus the white-tailed eagle's tan head is the most obvious feature since both birds have white tails. There is also a color difference in the tail with the adult birds believe it or not the bald eagle's tail is more white... The differences are both geographical and morphological. Haliaeetus leucocephalus or American Bald Eagle has a distinctive mature phase that displays a white head and tail and it is geographically restricted to North America.

Haliaeetus albicilla is geographically restricted to Europe and differs by displaying cream colored feathers on head and shoulders. Tail is white. Both are similar in their habits however. They are fishing Eagles.
