Some talk and some don't. Repetition helps and saying things with enthusiasm makes a difference. If you use a tape that repeats over and over limit use to one hour a day to avoid boredom. Start with one word or phrase at a time. Have a tweet Christmas.

Everyone has said it: repetition, repetition, repetition.
Many years ago I got a young budgie as a gift. We named him Bird (for lack of anything better at the time). Every single day, walking in and walking out I said: ''hi bird'' until he got it.
He was trained to come to a small stick too. He had his wings clipped in the beginning and in the time it took for them to grow back, he got used to using the stick with me. That built trust.
He was such a wonderful pet. More than just a "bird in a cage" in the house, he was our friend.

Most budgies dont talk, they arent a very vocal bird compared to a parrot.
Start with easy thingz like hello, then if she/he starts talkin then teach she/he longer lines.

Start with something short, like "hello" or their name "Lucas".
You must repeat it CONSTANTLY to the bird for them to pick up quickly(as a general rule). Say it in the same inonation every time. This will help them along as well.
Or, you can tape record, or computer record yourself saying it over and over, and play it continuously throughout the day while you are at work or school. ;)
Both ways have worked wonders in the past.

It would take a while for your bird to learn to talk. Words that end with a "y" sound like tea, bee, me, ect. are easier for them to learn. Age of the bird also affects the ability to learn to speak. If it is young, it would learn much faster, as to an old bird. Patients is the key.

i saw these mirrors at petsmart and they talk, not sure what they say exactly, but it says guaranteed to be talking.....you could also leave the radio on while you are gone or just sitting in your room:] my friend's bird started talking after doing that

pick an easy word like hi or there name and reapet it daily like if you wanted him to say hi in the morning afternoon etc. just say hi. reapetedly.
