I used Advantage on him last Sunday, and he still scratches as of this morning. I cant really tell if it's as much as he used to. I cant see the fleas, but then again, I only saw 4 when I blow dried him last week. (Meaning I really never could see the fleas too much int he first place. He never had flea dirt on him or anything)

I am a Weim lover and rescuer. I would love to hear stories about your Gray Ghost - funny things they do, where you got your Weim, etc.

I have this stray cat, she hangs out usually on my porch and I feed her and give her some milk alot. But she's pregnent, I'd take her to a Animal Shelter but they're ALWAYS full, they only have two cat spots. I'd take her inside and everything but I already have 5 cats, If I took her in they'd fight. She (the stray cat) Doesn't like other cats that much. And to make it worse, I'm moving in a week and a half, the day after Halloween. I've already found two other stray cats a home but that took 2 months, and I only have a week and a half to get someone to adopt a pregnant cat. Help.

Hey guys,
I have a 2.5 year old black Lab, who will not stop scratching!
He’s on monthly prescription-strength flea treatments because he had a flea problem in the past, however we have not been able to find a single flea on him. He stays outdoors (by choice) and rarely goes into any buildings, and sleeps under our carport (covered, enclosed by two walls, concrete floors).

I'm beginning to think it is partly dry skin, but he also has gnats flying around him often. But it seems like all other animals (and humans) have gnats flying around at this time of the year.

Should I try a medicated shampoo, something with a moisturizer?

He doesn't seem to have any visible signs of where he has been scratching, like scabbing or anything.

I can't stand seeing him so frustrated! We're still paying for past vet bills, and also have our OWN medical bills to pay for, so seeing a vet again, unless there is an emergency, isn't really ideal.

Any ideas? Thanks!

I believe it came out of my cat and it certainly looked like vomit, they certainly looked and moved like worms....anyone have any idea what they might be called? He is an inside cat.....so he couldn't have eaten anything nasty outside...we did get him a couple of months ago from someone who was moving into a very small apartment....and his stomach has always looked funny......hangy
thanks

We would like to buy a puppy and we felt in love with a chinesse sharpei. But both my spouse and I work full time and can only take care of him morning & afternoon. we can occasionally take him to the office during the day. Is the sharpei a high-maintenance dog? Do they need full day attention? Also, there will be any problem if down the line we have kids? so far I know they get along with kids just fine, but not sure if the same applies if the dog is an adult when the children come

I sent an e-mail to my dog's prospective future trainer, inquiring about his methods. My dog had recently graduated from a class that taught positive reinforcement and clicker training, and in response to my question, he responded: I don't teach clicker-training in class, but try to draw from lots of different methods to figure out the most effective approach for each person/dog. I do use treat rewards, but try to wean off those a quickly as possible so that the dogs understand they need to respond even if treats aren't available. I use other rewards (attention, play, etc.) as much as possible and gentle correction when needed.

Does this mean he does not use positive reinforcement? My dog (when hit or punished) will react badly. I'm not sure what to think of this response.

Thanks!

My cat seems to always be licking plastic bags if he can see one. We've had five cats altogether in our family and he's the first one ever to lick plastic bags.

Is it a normal thing? Or is my cat just weird?

The vet suggested that I get my maine coon groomed (she mentioned a lion cut). I googled pic of that horrible, ridiculous looking cut and all the kitties on the images look absolutely miserable! My cat Angelo is very shy with strangers and he hates getting out of the house so here are my questions: Has anyone gotten a lion cut to their cat? What was his/her behavior after getting it? How long did it take to grow back?
Thank you all for your answers, and hurry up...we have an appointment for saturday Oct 27th!!!!!!

I am about to buy a shih tzu puppy. This is my first time buying a puppy and would like to know what i should ask for in the way of paperwork. I want the dog to be purebred and have all the shots/worming etc. I have heard some people say AKC or other registered but is that enough to show the dog is purebred or do i need some other paper work to show he is. I may want to start breeding them down the road and don't want to run into complications with not having proof they are indeed purebred. Also, is there other paperwork i need to get if i intend to breed them in the future?

I read that they are prone to be aggressive and ornery. What has your experience been. Mine bit me once, but I don't think he was being mean. Other than that he's been really sweet. He's just a babe though. I was wondering if he's going to get nasty as he gets older.

My cat could not breathe this morning, so I took her to the vet who ruled out other possible diseases. he gave her a shot of steroid and albuterol, and he just called me back (she stayed at the vet) and she is breathing normally again and purring :-)
He mentioned a 6-month treatment with steroid. I have asthma myself, but my steroid treatment only lasted for a week.

Anyone with an asthmatic cat?
any advise?

Thank you
ps: I do trust my vet, but I want to have some opinions from people who live with an asthmatic cat. Do you have a daily treatment or do you give albuterol when your cat has an attack?

thank you

this is what happened. they broke into my dads vehicle last nite, my dog saw what was going on and somehow managed to get loose and ran after the thief. ok, after she gave chase to the suspect all the neighbors were out in the street trying to see what was goin on, at this point the dog is mad and very active. she bit a neighbor and my brother. police were called to the scene they took a look at what hapened and filed the following: a robbery took place at the residence, the dog being protective broke loose and ran after suspect, being loose she was aggitated by all the peoples commotion and bit one of them. my point is she is not up to date on her rabies shot but it is certain she does not have them, she is not registered with the city of houston. we dont plan to keep her to prevent future problems. should we put her to sleep or let the dog pund decide whats best

Some people cannot afford to have their cats and dogs fixed!!!!! Do you not under stand that?? And don't give me that crap about " If you can't afford to have them fixed than you shouldn't have them at all!!" My animals are very well taken care of! They have erverything that they need! Thay are well fed and thay have toys to play with and they are very loved!!!!! But I can't afford to get them fixed!! Why can't you people understand that it is not a cheep procedure and some people want to get it done but just can't!!!????!!!! You may say that it can cost less than $100.00 but to some people that is a lot of money!! Some people don't have a lot of money and it's not right for you to critisize and ridicule them about it!!!!!!!!!! And I just want to say THANK YOU to all the people that do realize this and believe that it is the pet owner's decision and nobody elses!!!!!!! Belive me I love animals as much as the next person but I believe that the owner knows best, except in abusive cases

Our dog, Rajah, is 3 years old. My brother-in-law found her in an abandoned house in Detroit and brought her home and we took her in. We have brought her around other people, and had other people over to the house. However, he will bark and growl at anyone who isn't my husband or I. And I am not talking about just initially either. At the moment we are waiting to move into our new house and have been living with my parents for the last 2 months. Rajah still barks and growls at my parents. She also refuses to let anyone else take her outside. We are expecting a baby in 2 months and I am worried about how Rajah is going to react to the new addition. If anyone has any suggestions on how to correct her behavior it would be great. We love our dog and she is part of the family, but if it came down to it, she would have to go... I just don't want to see that happen.
