what can happen to my dog or what are consequences following an unprovoked attack?

this is what happened. they broke into my dads vehicle last nite, my dog saw what was going on and somehow managed to get loose and ran after the thief. ok, after she gave chase to the suspect all the neighbors were out in the street trying to see what was goin on, at this point the dog is mad and very active. she bit a neighbor and my brother. police were called to the scene they took a look at what hapened and filed the following: a robbery took place at the residence, the dog being protective broke loose and ran after suspect, being loose she was aggitated by all the peoples commotion and bit one of them. my point is she is not up to date on her rabies shot but it is certain she does not have them, she is not registered with the city of houston. we dont plan to keep her to prevent future problems. should we put her to sleep or let the dog pund decide whats best

if it certian she does not have rabies vaccination up to date and she bit someone neither you nor the pound will be the desision maker. It's gonna be the health deptarment.

Because she isn't up on her Rabies, she will be quarantined at your local shelter for about 20 days, and all who were bitten will need to get several shots including Tetanus, and Rabies.

Since you seem to be giving her up, the shelter may rehome her if she seems like a likely candidate, and is stable enough. If not, they will euthanize.

Please don't get another dog. Its obvious you didn't train this one, and if you got another one, the results would probably be the same. Every dog is special, and needs a caring, loving home where all their needs, including training, are taken care of.
