I haven't a clue what room 101 is but from the answers your getting I understand it is a bad thing.
Pigeons get alot of stick for things that arent true like-
*They CARRY DISEASES, I wish people woudn't go around spreading crap that they have no proof or understanding of. Pigeons carry very few diseases that can be transmitted via humans.
*They are DIRTY- I'll have you know that pigeons bathe 2 maybe 3 times daily, do you? No, when you shake a persons hand, do you think where that was last, when you let the dog jump up and lick your face do you wonder what else he has licked that day? A pigeon would have less bacteria than these.
* The CRAP everywhere- They crap in and around there nest, they aren't liek seagulls which fly over and drop one on your head, no, it's actually impossible for a pigeon to do that since they fly with their legs against their body so in order for them to poop on you the poop would have to seep through their legs and then onto your head, yeah not going to happen, they insdtead land and do it then.
Steve J- Who the heck gave you that information or did you just think of it in order to sound cleve and gain the 10 best answer points? Yes, I though so, if pigeons pass the most diseases to humans, name me 10. No you can't can you because THEY DONT EXIST. Your saying pigeons do damage to buildings with all the mess they make? I'm assuming you mean their poop, which infact is great fertiliser. Do you not see what damage people do to a building with grafitii and your telling me you would rather see someones name written in big chunky writing scrawled across the side of a building than some pigeon poop on a hidden ledge somewhere up high?
You know those white doves that simbolise peace and love, that is a pigeon, do you see how clean and white its feathers are, can you see how it's handler is very healthy and disease free?
Alot of famous people people keep and breed pigeons such as-
Charles Darwin
Walt Disney
Clint Eastwood
Queen Elizabeth
George Forman
Maurizo Gucci
Mike Tyson
and..
Picasso, who loved his birds so much names his daughter Paloma which mean pigeon in Spanish

They are called flying rats, but if you just think for one second we don't come into contact with rats very much and if the truth be known rats are very clean about themselves cleaning and pruning all the time. The most dangerous part of a rat, besides it's bite, is it's tail because it drags it through all the s**t but it cleans that up when it gets back to the nest, only to get filthy again on the first trip out for groceries.
Now take the pigeon. They rear their young in their own c**p. They suffer from foot rot from walking about in it. And last but by no means least pigeon lice are quite happy to take up residence with humans in perfusion, That's a fact I know from experience on building renovation jobs where they (pigeons / lice) were everywhere.
Don't be giving the Rats a bad name they are cleaner by far than pigeons. If I had to make a choice of a pet to keep I would choose a rat every day. I wouldn't even qualify them with a capital P.
Yes I would put the pigeons in room 101.

If I was Paul Merton I would have to say no. You can't put pigeons into room 101, while seagulls get off Scot free! These shitehawks are truly annoying and getting more brave, and more dangerous. Fed a never ending suppy of kebabs and pizza on Friday night, they don't just hang around at the beach anymore, and you have food in your hand which they want, they will insist they have it and take it from your hand! Truly monstrous, worthy of an Alfred Hitchcock film.
I have a feeling a housefly is more dangerous than a pigeon.

No no and no again.
Pigeons are:
- One of the most intelligent animals in the world. They have a very good memory and can correctly identify over 1,200 images. They have passed the mirror test, meaning they are one of only six animal species in the world capable of knowing their reflection as their own instead of another animal or an enemy.
- Pigeons are NOT rats with wings. They are cleaner than you think. They LOVE to take baths, preen all the time, and remove the eggshells from the nest after they hatch. Yes, pigeons can get feather lice and mites, but every other animal can too. Parakeets, parrots, cute little ducks and chickens - they all get them too, and no worse than a pigeon does. Heck, we have hundreds of microscopic mites in our eyebrows and lashes, so we can't say anything.
- Pigeons are one of the fastest birds in the world. Some racing homers have been recorded to fly at speeds near 100mph, but they normally fly about 60 in level flight with no breeze.
- Pigeons saved thousands of human lives during WWI and II. Out of the 54 animals given the Dickins Medal (animal equivelent of the VC) following the end of WWII, 32 were given to pigeons, 18 to dogs, 3 to horses, and 1 to a cat.
- There are over 250 different breeds of domestic pigeons and billions of pigeon fanciers world wide. They are shown, raced, bred for food, released at weddings and funerals (yes those are WHITE HOMING PIGEONS you see released at special occasions, NOT doves), and just raised for fun. A single purebred, good bloodlined racing homer will go for hundreds of dollars in the market. Most races have trophy and plaque prizes but some have money involved - and a lot of it.
- Pigeons were one of the first domesticated animals, first kept around 3000 BC. Pharaohs, kings queens, and other important people through history have raised pigeons and used them to carry messages of victory, defeat, and news for centuries.
- There is no scientific difference between a pigeon and a dove except the size. Generally the bigger species are called pigeons while the smaller ones are doves. The city pigeons are actually Rock Doves and have an incredible homing ability. All domestic pigeons came from the wild Rock Dove. Homing pigeons are their closest relative, and can fly back home from over 1,500 miles across unfamiliar land.
- Pigeons are major parts of many religions. Read it for yourself here: http://www.christusrex.org/www1/ofm/mag/MAen9905.html
There are no wild doves that are white. The only one is the Imperial Pigeon. -cough- Pigeon. This, and the fact that doves have virtually no homing instinct compared to the pigeon and pigeons are the only ones you can actually keep in a dovecote and let them out without losing them, leads me to my belief that it was the white Rock Dove that brought back the olive banch. And that it was also the Rock Dove that was kept by so many people in the ancient times, because if you keep any other dove in a dovecote and let them go, they will hardly come back.
SO
Considering these things, pigeons are actually very important birds. Just figured I'd show everyone wrong but letting out my brain full of pigeon history and facts. :P
Pigeons should be respected just as much (and in my opinion, more) than it's close relative the dove. What have the pigeons done for us? A lot. What have the doves done for us? Nothing but steal the glory from the pigeon.

Oh oh oh, and one more thing. Despite whatever baffoons will tell you, pigeons do not spread more disease than any other animal. You just think this because there are so many in one place. If they were more spread out, you'd never pay any attention to their droppings. All birds to it, all animals in general do it. You can catch a variety of disease from any fecal matter reguardless of what it came from. Pigeons are not the main carriers of the Avain Disease either. In fact, they were immune to it up until a couple years ago when a new strain of the Avain Flu developed. Now it is possible that they can get it and spread it, but it's only one or two strains of the disease that they get. It's still extremely rare that you'll ever catch the Flu from a pigeon, or any other dangerous disease like that. Unless you go scrape their droppings up the sidewalk and sit there eating them, I doubt a pigeon will ever get you sick (unless you get pigeon lung, which is only caught from pigeon fanciers that have spent endless hours dusty pigeon lofts over several years.). Pigeons are clean, they do not bite or peck (in other words they're harmless), and they're just packed into cities because it's the closest thing to their natural habitat - the rocky cliff ledges in Europe and Asia. We can't blame them for trying to survive.

I wish these people that claim pigeons pass more diseases on to people than any other animal could actually show medical proof of this claim. dogs, cats, gerbils and other normal household pets hold this distinction not pigeons.

No, because I actually like Pigeons...I know they are referred to as flying rats, but that is only because they congretate in urban areas and people interact with them....I rather like them, so would not put them in.

Pigeons = flying rats
they pass more diseases to humans than any other animal and yet we come into contact with them more than most other animals.
it's not just that think of the damage they cause to buildings and the mess they make around the place.
