When my husband first brought our puppy home about two weeks ago, she seemed to be paper trained, she would go right on the puppy pads we had for her, and outside. Since then it's like she forgot where she was supposed to pee, she's peed in my husband's truck (only minutes after being taken out and going pee), on the rug, on the bed (again, after being taken out and peeing) Today, she peed a little on the floor, I took her out to see if she needed to finish her business, she peed outside. Not more then 10 minutes later she was peeing on the rug again. I don't get it, why the digression? I know you should crate train the dog, but my husband is also afraid that when we have to go away on a long trip in the car and she needs to be in the crate that she will be upset with us the whole time thinking we are punishing her. Help!?

my oscar fish's eye is cloudy. not the entire eye but just a part of it. can this be a eye infection? and also the oscar fishes fins right next to the gills and those fins only none other else have like whitisht spots on them im not sure if there ick because ick is usually aorund the whole body.

He doesn't like dogs period. Crazy, cause i totally love em....what great friends. Anyway, the newest problem....he's mad that I let her sit with my on the floor in my bedroom. He wants the bedroom off limits. But, dang....he gives her little to no affection (he says I give enough for 2 people) and we are all unhappy when everyone is home cause I want to please him but not neglect my dog in the mean time.
Help! (No "get rid of husband answers" please. That's a silly option. I made a covenant with God....I want to make it work. The dog is honestly our one and only argument.
What cha think folks?

I have a wonderful dog (Penny) that I just found out is protective of us. My mom walked in my house today from a trip and Penny growled and barked at her while she stood right by me. She (my mom) is the first person to enter my house since I got her. I hate to say it but it made me proud that she protects her family.

My husband and I are wondering
If an intruder were to break in and she were to bite them would she be taken from her home for a 10 day hold? I say no because the intruder broke in an she was protecting us. She also is up to date on all her shots and she wears her tags. he says yes.
I want to hear what others think.

I'm going to be in my junior year next year and I am moving into a pet friendly apartment. I was considering getting a small dog like a papillon or chihuahua. I'm not the type of person that would ditch my pet for a party, and I have had dogs in the past. I was wondering if anyone else had a dog in college and if so, do you have any tips for me?

Hi i posted a question but was rushed so trying again. I have not ridden for 20 yrs purchased a 6 yo Gelding. Have had him for 3 months. Have had a lessons. I want this horse for pleasure and need some basic advice. He basically could not follow a straight line when i purchased him, so we have been working in a round arena. She has taught me, to make him walk where you want and keep him on the proposed track. Keep your calf muscles, both legs, close to his body at all times, if you want him to veer to the right slightly, tighten the right rein and put more pressure on him with your left calf muscle, this seems to be working ok. Am I doing the right thing, am only at the stage of bringing him back to a slow comfortable trot and keeping him at that for a period of time in an arena so where do i go to from here. I guess we are both back to basics so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I've had my Beta fish (Leo) for 4 months now. He lives far enough from the window that the sun never reaches him but he gets natural light daily. I read a couple weeks ago that you're only supposed to change 20% of the water in their tanks at a time and even though i'd always changed most of the water when cleaning i decided to give that a try. After about 2 weeks of doing this the water looked incredibly gross because i wasn't getting all of the mess off the bottom so i just went ahead and changed all the water like i usually do. In the last 6 days or so his face has changed from a purply blue color to almost green. It's nasty looking and he's definitely not swimming around as happily as usual, Also, he's stopped making bubble nests. Could it have been the week of nasty water that made him sick? I also added a piece of bambo to his tank.Can anyone help me figure out what to do to make my little Leo better? I've really enjoyed having him around and hate seeing him look so miserable.thx

I use to use a filter, but my fish would get stuck in it. Is there a more convenient way to oxygenate the water without air tubing and pumps? I have a 5 gallon tank with a small goldfish in it.

I am making a fish maze.
It is a rectangle.
The width of the short sides is 11 inches, and for the long side it is 14 inches.
I am having trouble with the height.
I only have a limited supply of glass..so what is a reasonable height for a fish? (the fish live in a tank!) 5.5 in? 4.5 in? 4 in? somewhere around those numbers?

And also should I glue the walls on the outside of the base, or the inside?

I gave my cat milk, and she threw it up. When she threw it up out comes a 1.5/ 2 inch white flatish worm. It was moving. I am scared that it is a tape worm and I have been looking online and can not find anything helpful. She is going to the vet tomorrow morning but as you can see I am freeting. So any answers please!

I have a male pearl gourami that, since two to three days ago, has become a bit lethargic. He's been hiding in the cave we had and hasn't been eating. The area from his head to his gills has turned red today. There are no growths or fin damage on him, however...there is what seems to be an orange growth protruding out of his gills. Is he infected? I just did a water change and rinsed the foam part of the water filter last week.

my rats tooth has been growing to wrong directiion to the poinwhere his teth don't line up, one of his teeth is now growing into his upper jaw. is there any way to stop this? is there anything i can do before we take him to the vet, its getting so close thats its already making a big gash in his mouth,PLEASE HELP ME

We have recently adopted her from an animal rescue and we thought she had fleas (she is 10 weeeks) so we bathed her in dish soap as we were told to do by petco and she has since then started hacking and it sounds like she is going to to throw up. Do i need to go to the the doctor? Im scared is she okay? Whats wrong?

I have two chihuahuas, one is a year or so old, the other is about seven years old; both males.

I used to let them in the house while everyone was gone, but they pee on everything, so we have been keeping them in a little cage by the dog door so they can be inside when it's too hot or too cold, and also be able to go out back and relieve themselves. The problem with the cage is, it STINKS, it takes hours to clean, and it looks incredibly ghetto behind our sofa. My Dad usually locks them in the cage so they can't go outdoors and bark at night, so they always pee and crap back there making it discusting. I'm definitly not keeping this cage idea around. Besides, it seems cruel to keep the poor mutts back there.

Is there a way of training them not to pee indoors?
Or should we just keep them outside when everyone is at work and asleep, and ditch the cage?

My family recently got a new puppy. We are in the process of training her, and though I feel it's important to all be on the same page and be consistent, it seems like my partner and I are the only one who is sticking to the rules. Is it possible to effectively train the dog on my own even if the other members of the family (teenagers) don't take part in the training and spoil the dog?
I'm hoping to train her to walk properly on a leash and learn some obedience commands like sit, stay, quiet, heel, come, fetch, crate-up and so on. I am trying to be consistent in the training and maintaining the pack leader role, but the kids laugh when she does something wrong and talk to the dog in a way that I feel encourages the bad behaviors.
My partner doesn't seem to agree that it's a big deal when they do this and thinks I am over-reacting when I get upset about it. Does anyone have any insight that could help us out?

I recently rescued (and am keeping) a chihuahua who 3 weeks after her rescue gave birth to 4 pups (with 3 survivors) and when I got her I was told she would not eat dog food. Well, I put her on Canidae as I had heard great things about it and she loves it!!! I will be switching my other 2 dogs (malamute and Pit bull/golden retriever) to it as well as I would like to have the same food for both the big and small dogs. One thing concerns me and that is why I am asking here, I have done quite a bit of research and found a few links that Canidae has been making dogs sick and had acetaminophen in it recently. Then I searched again and found claims that those are false. Does anyone know any reliable resources for checking on Dog foods and recalls, or if these stories are correct.

OK, so my hamster has a little pot belly. She looks like a pot-belly pig. And she also looks like she has a wet tail. I looked up wet tail on google, but I couldn't find anything that said they get fat. She seems ok. She looks a little sick, but not like she's in pain, just tired.

So when I just went up stairs to take pictures of her she was shaking like she couldn't walk that good, but that could have been because I had to wake her up.

Please don't tell me to take her to the vet because I'm not doing that. I love her but I'm not going to spend hundreds of dollar to take her to the vet. If all you are going to do is tell me to take her the vet don't bother responding. Because I know half the people that say to take hamsters to the vet wouldn’t take there hamster to the vet.

I have a 10-month old, 9-lbs chihauhau/pug mix. She's been wanting us to scratch just above her tail on her back for DAYS now...and it's such a strong itch that she barks when we stop. She's walking under kitchen chairs scratching on the legs, and it's sad to watch. She pants and gets so frustrated! We gave her a bath using the soothing, sensitive formula but it hasn't helped any. We think she might have some sort of skin rash, since we give her flea treatment. Her black hair is so short and coarse that we can't part it to see her skin, but when I flip her over and look down at her "female parts" where there's no hair, and it's a little red. What can we give her/put on her that will stop her itching? I feel so bad for her!!!

He trotted in the living room last nite and hiked his leg on my recliner chair and you can only imagine. I cleaned up the mess and put him in the utility room and he left a huge puddle of wee in the floor, so now he is outdoors.
Could his medicine for kennel cough cause this? He is on some type cough medicine and is guzzling water and weeing like crazy everywhere.
